20. Chaos Wisdom School + The Medicine of Neurodiversity

Teaching yoga to neurodiverse kids was a Chaos Wisdom School initiation. Lots of musings on chaos x parenting x kids x neurodivergence. My big realization: the biggest contributor to "chaos" is my *own* misattunement. The big takeaway: embrace chaos. If chaos feels uncomfortable, examine that for a while. Perhaps, an intrinsic part of being neuroaffirming is to be more curious about chaos. 18. Live Coaching Excerpt (Astroanalysis) Adding dimension to a mother child dynamic

I work 1:1 with parents, couples, and midlife journeyers in a therapeutic coaching capacity. My unique approach is called Deep Change Work and draws on numerous neuro-therapeutic and coaching lineages all of which I have professional training or certification in. Deep Change Work identifies limiting or unhelpful patterns and blind spots in how we perceive ourselves, others, and the world and updates them in a deep way, not just consciously and cognitively, but in the lower brain, the body, and the nervous system as well, so the change is accepted by and integrated into the whole system. Deep Change Work centers and celebrates human paradox, complexity, integrity, and wholeness. This work also brings attention to the places of dissonance and opportunities for agency where modern life interferes with the ancient, indigenous, and sociobiological aspects of our humanity. This episode is an excerpt from a parenting intensive client session, shared with full client permission. In this excerpt, I am analyzing the birth chart of the client's child using a rigorous and trauma-informed methodology of astroanalysis. 14. Sarah Corbett - Rowan and Sage - Astroherbalism

On Episode 14 (sorry for the long episode release hiatus! I was in a very intensive training from Jan-March!) I am thrilled to share my conversation with Sarah Corbett of Rowan and Sage. Sarah piqued my interest with the term "astroherbalism" and with a mention of how tracking her lunar cycles improved her health. (The book she recommended to me is Body Astrology by Claire Gallagher) Sarah Corbett (she/her) is a Clinical Herbalist, Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, and traditional astrologer who is passionate about helping others come into relationship with the natural world. She is the founder of Rowan + Sage, where she shares handcrafted astrologically-aligned herbal products, works with clients in her clinical practice, and guides others on their plant path through educational programs and mentorship. Sarah’s work weaves together the old ways with the new to create powerful, evidence-based offerings that bring forth ancestral herbal wisdom with a touch of magic and mysticism. Connect with Sarah and learn more about her work via her website www.rowanandsage.com or on all social media channels @rowanandsage. Sarah's astroherbalism course, Seasonal Herbcraft, can be found here: rowanandsage.com/seasonalherbcraft This is a long languid and lovely conversation, perfect for a road trip or long walk. Things we touch on: - Getting to an embodied yes/no takes *time* - Viewing business growth and death organically, through a natural lens - Why Sarah doesn't do astrology readings and what she does instead - Having breakdowns - Relationships between culture, capitalism and herbalism - Plants we discuss more in depth: Pine, Dandelion, Nettle, Kudzu - The Enlightenment as the moment of disenchantment - Astroherbalism and Relationship - Ecofacism - How to learn more about the plants around us - Finding space to fall apart and grieve Surf + Stars News: I've changed the name of my coaching practice to Celestyna Wild Coaching. 13. KAREN HAWKWOOD, CREATOR OF THE PARADOX SCHOOL

*Highly* recommend this episode for anyone who is a professional practitioner - coach or astrologer! If you are, this is a must-listen! Karen Hawkwood, equally well-known as KJ Sassypants, has business cards with the title "Ocean Floor Meets Night Sky." There really isn't anything that captures her essence better than that! KJ was born fascinated with why humans are the way they are and that only grew with time. She discovered astrology at age 15, leading to 40 years of self-study, 2 years in Steven Forrest's Apprenticeship Program, and 4 years at the original Kepler College. 10 years ago she layered that together with life-coach and Master life-coach training under Martha Beck and opened her own practice, specializing in seeing people at remarkably deep levels with full appreciation of their paradoxical richness. In addition to a full calendar of 1:1 work and various group experiences, she's about to open The Paradox School, a small and potent training program for those wanting to combine solid astrological framing with deep engagement skills to really help their fellow human people be themselves more skillfully. You can find out more about her and her work at www.karenhawkwood.com! We talk about:  What KJ and Baba Yaga have in common Coaching vs. counseling vs. therapy vs. what KJ does: deep engagement practice Spirituality and astrology KJ's archetypal language Examples: the Mermaid and the Curious Child archetypes What KJ goes to first in the natal chart; how KJ sees the natal chart Hubris and the myth of Tantalus Understanding your unconscious biases and being a skillful practitioner Ferret videos Rehabilitation and ecosystems KJ is my favorite person to talk with in the whole world - I hope you enjoy our conversation!

12. JOHN TOWNLEY, SERIALITY vs. SYNCHRONICITY, THE COMPOSITE CHART, GETTING SCIENCE-Y

I'm reconvening with John Townley, and we're talking about A LOT. We're discussing a concept called Seriality (which inspired Jung's idea of Synchronicity) as a good starting point for a physical basis for astrology. We talk about secondary progressions as a fractal form of the natal chart, we talk about the composite as a description of the power dynamics between the two people in relationship. We touch on time, temporal inertia and temporal dimensions, epigenetics, Plato, Jung, a guy called Kammerer that came up with this idea of seriality, we talk about patterns and information theory. We even mention Lagrange points and how they relate to the aspects in astrology. (It gets science-y at times, ngl) We briefly mention how evolution was very dependent on the existence of the moon, because the tides were so critical for the progress of evolution. We mention the usefulness of using metaphor during astrology consultations, there's some talk of using midpoints in astrology, and we look at the composite chart of myself and John, as a specific example once we get into the Composite Chart, which John popularized and established. It's a lot - please enjoy! // More about John Townley: John Townley is a pioneer astrologer, musician, journalist, and maritime historian – he is the “father” of the composite chart,  which he introduced in 1973, and his work with astrological and natural cycles has focused on exploring the physical basis for astrology. Current books include The Composite Chart, Lunar Returns, Dynamic Astrology, and Planets In Love. He has three new CD albums out on Berlin’s Lollipoppe Shoppe Records. His ongoing astrological, musical, and maritime efforts may be tasted at www.astrococktail.com. // Surf + Stars news:  NEW: I've added Grief Circles and Book Club, check that out here.  NEW OFFERINGS:  Brainchanger Sessions - Over 3 sessions I teach you a powerful neuroplasticity technique to change unwanted patterns of behavior, thought or even emotion.  Opulence of the Ordinary: A workshop on the 6th house.  // Follow Surf + Stars on Instagram (@surf.stars.social.club), Tiktok (@surf.stars.social.club), and Facebook (celestyna.brozek). 11. Dr. Glenn Perry - Down an AstroPsychology Rabbit Hole

I took a break over the holidays but I’m excited for episode 11 of the podcast! I’m speaking with Dr. Perry again, whom I love and find so fascinating and brilliant and kind. Glenn Perry, Ph.D., is an astrologer and licensed psychotherapist in Melbourne, FL, USA. In addition to private practice, Dr. Perry is currently director and lead faculty at the Academy of AstroPsychology, an online school that offers a two-year Diploma Program. Glenn has written nine books, including An Introduction to AstroPsychology, and served twenty years as Board member, ethics chair, and research advisor for the International Society of Astrological Research (ISAR). He lectures internationally on the application of astrology to the fields of counseling and psychotherapy. Website: www.aaperry.com As the break from the podcast stretched out, I felt more and more procrastinate-y about getting back to it, but once I re-listened to this convo, I was reminded of how much I love this project, and the people I get to engage with. All my resistance dissolved, and all my passion re-ignited. So, it was a good convo, to say the least. What do we talk about? Differences between astrology and psychology, and how the two can support each other. The idea of synchronicity as an on-going dynamic, not an occasional magic. How astrology is both a tool for raising awareness, but also how life itself is inherently therapeutic. The idea that the Cosmos is ensouled and intelligent. We did get into some technical astrology - we talk about challenging aspects as representing a problem, solution, and goal all in one, and how to understand the exact meaning of an aspect based on the angle but also whether it’s an opening or closing aspect. Dr. Perry shares some of his newer work including an astrological developmental model, as well as ideas from his latest book around pathology in the natal chart. We tease out the mysterious saying “all meaning is an angle.” Dr. Perry shares a very personal story to illustrate the idea of increasing awareness through astrology.  I make an incorrect assumption and get corrected as well as share a bit about my own personal experience with therapy. We have a bonding moment around summer vacation and the perception of time. There’s a lot, hope you enjoy! / Surf and Stars News: Dates + descriptions for 2023 Workshops coming soon - get on my email list to be notified!
