12. JOHN TOWNLEY, SERIALITY vs. SYNCHRONICITY, THE COMPOSITE CHART, GETTING SCIENCE-Y
I'm reconvening with John Townley, and we're talking about A LOT.
We're discussing a concept called Seriality (which inspired Jung's idea of Synchronicity) as a good starting point for a physical basis for astrology.
We talk about secondary progressions as a fractal form of the natal chart, we talk about the composite as a description of the power dynamics between the two people in relationship.
We touch on time, temporal inertia and temporal dimensions, epigenetics, Plato, Jung, a guy called Kammerer that came up with this idea of seriality, we talk about patterns and information theory.
We even mention Lagrange points and how they relate to the aspects in astrology. (It gets science-y at times, ngl)
We briefly mention how evolution was very dependent on the existence of the moon, because the tides were so critical for the progress of evolution.
We mention the usefulness of using metaphor during astrology consultations, there's some talk of using midpoints in astrology, and we look at the composite chart of myself and John, as a specific example once we get into the Composite Chart, which John popularized and established.
It's a lot - please enjoy!
