#177 Mentorship & Health, Care and Inequality Grant

Today on the business of healthcare podcast I have the pleasure in talking about The Business of Healthcare Mentorship Programme and the Health & Care Inequality Grant.  Last year we created an initiative called the business of healthcare scholarship, and we created that to provide mentorship and professional development grants to healthcare professionals from ethnically diverse backgrounds, looking to progress their leadership careers. In total we supported 17 people and we gave out 10,000 pounds worth of educational grants which I am extremely proud of.  This year we are doing it a little differently – we have launched The Business of Healthcare Academy which will be supporting and influencing positive change in the field of healthcare through;  Education  Training  Mentorship  Investment in health and care initiatives  Applications close on Monday 22nd November so check out the details in the podcast or pop over to our website www.thcprimarycare.co.uk for more details. #176 Working Towards A Common Agenda with Alison Reid

Welcome back to The Business of Healthcare Podcast where this week I am talking to Alison Reid who is the CEO at Community Dental Services.  What I really liked about this interview is that I don't share the interview questions with the guest in advance and Alison was just in my opinion, so clear in articulating the values, her culture compass, the focus for the next 18 months, her leadership style and I just thought I aspire to be able to communicate like that.    There are excellent practical tips in this episode too which I am so grateful to be able to share with you all.  "I think that's probably the one thing that shocked me most working much more directly with the dental provider was that I'd often heard the team refer to extractions and it's only when you actually go to a general anaesthetic session where a three year old is coming in to have all of their baby teeth removed, because they have become too decayed to be retained that you realise we've still got a serious problem in this country with understanding how to protect our teeth for the whole of our lives".  Alison Reid - CEO Community Dental Services Mentions in this episode  Katherine Pitts Podcast Episode 160    This week on The Business of Healthcare:  Support Your Leadership Development  It’s not what you do it’s how you do it  Children’s dental services and challenges  Needing to give the public choice  Integrated Care  Health inequalities    Connect with Alison Reid  Community Dental Services Website    Work with me  I’m Tara Humphrey and I’m the founder of THC Primary Care, a leading healthcare consultancy. #173 Are you prioritising your team?

This week on The Business of Healthcare Podcast I wanted to discuss the importance of making time to meet with your team even when you feel like there is no time.    A few of the questions that I discuss 👇    What is the importance of getting more time to talk to get to know each other?    What do you prioritise?    When we come together as a team, I have some quick ways to kickstart the meeting, you can ask what is working well, what are we finding challenging at the moment? and how have we overcome these challenges? You could ask your team to share an example of how a colleague has supported them recently too.    It really is huge making the commitment to prioritise your team and your business.    Work with me  I’m Tara Humphrey and I’m the founder of THC Primary Care, a leading healthcare consultancy.
