Myths About Fertility Treatment That Can Keep You Stuck

Welcome to Day 1 of our Functional Fertility Mini Series! We are digging into myths around fertility treatment and why a one size fits all approach may not work for you! If you were like me when you received your infertility diagnosis you went straight to the fertility clinic. And while the fertility clinic may feel like your first logical step – (it certainly felt that way to me!) - when you learn about the power of the functional approach - I believe it is your LAST step. Your body is desperately trying to tell you something and pumping it full of drugs (in some cases may lead to a baby) while others are left wondering why it didn’t work. That’s why I wanted to talk about some of the myths surrounding fertility treatment, why a one-sized fits all approach doesn’t work. And which tests you need to consider before you spend tens of thousands of dollars on fertility treatments. You'll learn: What to do when you’ve been told everything is normal - but it’s not working (ie. unexplained infertility). This one is so frustrating. We see it all the time. And while the first step may feel like the fertility clinic. Unexplained infertility is NOT unexplained with the functioal approach. Learn what you could be missing. What to do when you’ve been told you have low AMH, high FSH, POF/POI and donor eggs are your only option. That low AMH number gets embedded in our subconscious (but AMH is only an indicator of how well you will do with IVF - or rather your egg supply not quality). We talk about steps you can take right now BEFORE you go to donor eggs (this is not to be missed!). Why functional testing can help you get to the bottom of why it’s not working. When you have a targeted action plan - you can see results very quickly. Testing helps us get to the bottom of WHY it's not working in the first place. What so many people get wrong with functional testing. We see this over and over again. Listening to this advice can save you thousands of dollars. What to do when you get back your test results. This is where the rubber hits the road and where we see so many people make mistakes. You'll learn how to stay on track to optimize your fertility.   ***INFORMATION*** Book your Free Supercharge Your Fertility Discovery Call here: https://intakeq.com/booking/cZ7XW6 ****************** --- Got questions?  Join the Fab Fertile Support Group for motivation, support, and education so that you can prepare for pregnancy success. ---   More ways to support you to get pregnant naturally: Fabulously Fertile Book - https://fabfertile.com/product/fabulously-fertile/ Fabulously Fertile Cookbook - https://fabfertile.com/product/fabulously-fertile-cookbook/ Fertility Preparation Program - https://fabfertile.com/product/fertility-preparation-program/ Fab Fertile 6 week online Yoga Series - https://fabfertile.com/product/fertility-yoga-series/   --- Don't forget to check out my Resources page for more information and products that will help you on your fertility journey: https://fabfertile.com/resources/

Infertility can either bring you closer together as a couple or potentially tear you apart. The Connection Between Skin Rashes (ie. Psoriasis) and Infertility

Jennifer Fugo joins us this week as we’re digging into skin rashes and the link to infertility. Most of the time when we think of a food sensitivity we ONLY think of digestive issues. This may be the case some of the time – but issues such as mood problems, joint stiffness, autoimmunity and skin issues can be clues too! Skin issues are very common with food sensitivities and may be tied to gut infections too. Remember infertility does not happen in a bubble. The functional approach seeks to understand WHY and get to the root cause – which allows your hormones to begin to balance. If you are struggling with psoriasis, eczema, rosacea, acne or hives this episode is for you. Jennifer Fugo is a clinical nutritionist empowering women who’ve been failed by conventional medicine to beat chronic skin and unending gut challenges. We’ve talked about leaky gut – but have you heard of leaky skin? You’ll learn about the skin microbiome and how it communicates with your gut flora. When we take a targeted action plan to reduce inflammation (by addressing stressors such as food sensitivities, gut infections, environmental toxins, and getting honest about mental emotional stress) the hormones begin to balance and infertility can be reversed. T his is the case with PCOS, low AMH, unexplained infertility, premature ovarian insufficiency and more. So if you are dealing with any skin issues – this episode is not to be missed. ---   More ways to support you to get pregnant naturally: Fabulously Fertile Book - https://fabfertile.com/product/fabulously-fertile/ Fabulously Fertile Cookbook - https://fabfertile.com/product/fabulously-fertile-cookbook/ Fertility Preparation Program - https://fabfertile.com/product/fertility-preparation-program/ Fab Fertile 6 week online Yoga Series - https://fabfertile.com/product/fertility-yoga-series/   ---   Sponsored by: Shop AIP (everything you need for the AIP diet, paleo, gluten free and more) - https://shopaip.com/ Enjoy a 10% discount by using code: getpregnantpodcast   ---   Don't forget to check out my Resources page for more information and products that will help you on your fertility journey: https://fabfertile.com/resources/

Why You Need to Focus on This to Ensure a Healthy Postpartum Period

Lindsey Meisel joins us this week We’re digging into postpartum health and how to optimize this prior to conception. Plus we are learning how to track our cycles using the Ava Bracelet.   When I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure at 28 years old, I listened to the doctor’s and went straight to donor eggs. I did not get a second opinion. I didn’t look at root causes such as food sensitivities, gut infection, mental emotional stress (trauma), I rushed straight to the fertility clinic.   Now I was one of the fortunate ones and was able to have my children with donor eggs. However years later my health suffered. My postpartum period was not a great time. I was super irritable (I’ve since heard about postpartum rage – bottom line I was not in a great place emotionally.   I know if I had of worked on my preconception health, my post partum period could have been easier and more enjoyable – instead of filled with stress and worry. And although it can be tempting to rush towards the fertility clinic without focusing on our preconception health – we don’t fully know the impact fertility treatments have on our health, post partum period and the health of our children.   When I curate episodes for the Get Pregnant Naturally podcast I want to educate you to see that there is another way – using a functional approach – that gets to the root cause of why it’s not working in the first place.   Today I’m welcoming Lindsay Meisel. She is the Chief Science Editor at Ava Fertility Tracker. She’s an expert at breaking down science, technology and health as it relates to women’s health and the menstrual cycle.   We’re talking about the importance of optimizing a healthy postpartum period and what you can do now (before you conceive). Plus we delve into the causes of post partum depression such as hormonal imbalance, nutrient deficiencies, low Vitamin D, chronic stress, thyroid dysfunction and more) and what you can do BEFORE you conceive. Plus how the Ava bracelet can help with period tracking and why tracking your sleep, heart rate variability (your body’s ability to deal with stress), resting pulse rate and why this matters for your fertility. --- Resources Mentioned in Episode: Mucus Blog: https://fabfertile.com/blog/learn-how-cervical-mucus-can-predict-your-most-fertile-days/   Lisa Hendrickson-Jack: https://fabfertile.com/blog/how-to-improve-egg-and-sperm-health/ https://fabfertile.com/blog/do-you-know-how-diet-influences-your-menstrual-cycle/   Dr. Jolene Brighten: https://fabfertile.com/blog/how-post-birth-control-syndrome-impacts-fertility/   ***INFORMATION***   Book your Free Supercharge Your Fertility Discovery Call here: https://intakeq.com/booking/cZ7XW6   ******************     More ways to support you to get pregnant naturally: Fabulously Fertile Book - https://fabfertile.com/product/fabulously-fertile/ Fabulously Fertile Cookbook - https://fabfertile.com/product/fabulously-fertile-cookbook/ Fertility Preparation Program - https://fabfertile.com/product/fertility-preparation-program/ Fab Fertile 6 week online Yoga Series - https://fabfertile.com/product/fertility-yoga-series/   ---   Don't forget to check out my Resources page for more information and products that will help you on your fertility journey: https://fabfertile.com/resources/

Why a Nutrient Deficiency Matters for Fertility

Nutrient deficiencies are very common, especially if you have been on long-term hormonal contraception. Did you know that hormonal birth control could lead to nutrient deficiencies? Plus it impacts our ability to absorb nutrients. We have clients who are eating a whole foods organic nutrient dense diet, but are nutrient depleted. Shocking right? This is quite common, but not normal. So you could be well fed, but undernourished. Also stress can contribute to nutrient deficiencies, as well as your body does not make every nutrient it needs (so you need to get these specific nutrients from food). We talk about copper toxicity and iodine deficiency (and how to address these issues – we see a lot of people getting this wrong!). How nutrient deficiencies impact the thyroid and adrenals and the link to inflammation. Plus we talk about how the hair tissue mineral analysis test can show our mineral status and how simple diet and targeted supplements can allow us to optimize our nutrients. An optimized nutrient status is essential for preconception health and getting pregnant naturally.

How to Cope with Miscarriage and Loss

Jackie Figueras joins us today as we're digging into how to navigate miscarriage and loss. October is pregnancy and infant loss awareness month. Pregnancy loss and infant death may include but are not limited to miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS, or the death of a newborn. I'm speaking with Jackie Figueras, the founder of The Supportive Mama. She is a masters prepared registered nurse, clinical educator, and certified professional coach. She specializes in infertility issues, miscarriages, and grief, focusing on mental and emotional well being. I regularly speak with women who have experienced miscarriage and recurrent miscarriage. Many times they may not even have shared that they are pregnant (i.e. we wait for the magic 12 week date to announce), which may lead to further isolation. These intense feelings of loss and grief can be overwhelming. Of all pregnancies, 15-20% end in miscarriage; 75% of these in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. According to Resolve National Infertility Association, all too often these feelings can be suppressed and misunderstood by friends and family. In this episode we talk about the stages of grief and how they relate to miscarriage and what we can do for our self or someone who has experienced loss. Plus we discuss how to re-frame our experience with miscarriage…to help us see a new path forward.

The Connection Between Mental Health Diagnosis and Infertility

Dr. Sara DeFrancesco join us today as we’re digging into the gut brain connection, getting stuck on a mental health diagnosis and why this matters for fertility. I'm speaking with Dr. Sara DeFrancesco. She is a holistic, root cause Naturopathic Doctor, Licensed Acupuncturist, and the founder of Thriving Force – an investigative medicine clinic that specializes in digestive, immune, and brain health problems. So many couples that come to us who are dealing with infertility are also dealing with mood problems such as (anxiety, ADHD, ADD, depression, brain fog and irritability). We begin to identify with these labels. For years I thought I was an irritable person! Not the case…as I improved my gut health my mood improved too! Although when I’ve done too much – irritability is a sign that I’m out of alignment. We’ve seen this over and over again with our clients. If you think your only option is a lifetime of prescription medication that numbs out your feelings…the functional approach provides another path forward. Similar to our infertility diagnosis, we get hyper focused on our mental health diagnosis and don't consider the root cause. If you have a mental health diagnosis and infertility this episode is for you. We discuss the root cause such as - digestion issues (IBS, IBD), microbiome imbalances/infections, blood sugar imbalance, adrenal dysfunction, thyroid problems, hormone imbalance and common nutrient deficiencies (we see this quite regularly on our hair tissue mineral analysis test). We discuss the conventional approach to mental health versus the functional approach and how this approach can help you get pregnant naturally.

How Setting Boundaries Can Help During The Fertility Journey

Dr. Jennifer Shaw joins us today as we're digging into how to set boundaries and schedule our time when we are TTC. Today I speak with Dr. Jennifer Shaw. She is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, a keynote speaker for a billion-dollar international health and wellness company and a sought after yoga instructor with expertise in anatomy, alignment, and injury prevention. When I'm coaching couples in our Fab Fertile Couples Coaching program - setting boundaries comes up again and again. How do we say no? This can be especially hard if you really want to say yes! But as we learn the importance of self-care (boundary setting is a vital part of this). So if you're struggling with boundaries because you have FOMO (fear of missing out). Yep, that was me! Or perfectionism (oh how that one keeps us trapped) or maybe it's social conditioning? We're going to break down the first steps you need to know so you can finally say no (and mean it). Plus how to stay focused so you can make small steps every day that positively impact your preconception health. Acne and Why it Matters If You Are TTC

Brooke Venables joins us today as we’re digging into the connection between acne and infertility. Today I speak with Brooke Venables. She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Holistic Medicine and has been specializing in skin and hormones for the past 8 years. Here's what so many couples get wrong when they are trying to conceive. They focus solely on the infertility diagnosis. With our Fab Fertile Coaching method, we take a functional approach to fertility. Looking at the other symptoms in the body. These are clues and healing opportunities (that are often missed by conventional medicine). Today's episode we're digging into a topic that I see all the time with the couples we coach. Acne! If you or your partner have acne (whether it's something you've had all your life or it suddenly appeared (like me - with adult acne) let's learn how we can clear our skin and improve our hormones to get pregnant naturally. --   Book your Free Supercharge Your Fertility Discovery Call here: https://intakeq.com/booking/cZ7XW6   --- Got questions?  Join the Fab Fertile Support Group for motivation, support, and education so that you can prepare for pregnancy success. ---   Don't forget to check out my Resources page for more information and products that will help you on your fertility journey: https://fabfertile.com/resources/
