Haitian Nonprofit Wants Trump/Vance Arrested, Trump’s Credit Card Plan Declined By GOP, 9/25/24
It may be a long shot, but a nonprofit called the Haitian Bridge Alliance wants Trump & Vance to legally answer for the lies they’ve told about Haitians eating pets . They want the two men arrested and facing criminal charges after the claims made without evidence resulted in bomb threats and safety issues. They accuse Trump/Vance of making false alarms, telecommunications harassment, aggravated menacing and complicity. A judge will decide whether the case moves forward. The latest Trump economic policy isn’t going over well with members of his own party. Republican lawmakers are not embracing Trump’s latest promise to voters to cap credit card interest rates at around 10% if he’s elected. Some GOP lawmakers say that might actually prevent access to credit for a lot of people. Republican lawmakers have also shunned Trump’s promise for an unlimited federal tax deduction for state and local taxes (SALT) and have turned away from securing access to IVF, voting down such a law twice. We’ll talk about why some of these Trump campaign promises might not be realistic. Presidential historian and political activist John Rothmann will be along to discuss it. Logistics expert Jonathan Rosenthal looks at a bus hijacking in Los Angeles and what steps should be taken to make transit secure before a global event like the Olympics is held in LA. Eco-Journalist Belinda Waymouth returns for “It’s the Planet, Stupid!” She looks into a new lawsuit filed by the state of California against Exxon for allegedly misleading people about whether plastic can truly be recycled.

Trump Slings Politics of Fear and Apocalypse…Is it Working? David Cay Johnston, 9/24/24
No matter the audience, Donald Trump is trying to scare the hell out of people insisting their livelihoods will end should Vice President Kamala Harris win the election. Trump tells people, no matter their occupation, they won’t be able to rely on that job anymore. He is stoking fear against immigrants, insists we should all be afraid of a crime wave (even though violent crime under President Biden has fallen) and of course, that World War III is coming and he alone can fix any conflict with a phone call. If fear isn’t enough to get people to fall in line, how about threats? Most recently, Trump told Jewish people at an antisemitic event they would be to blame if he didn’t win. He then told Catholics they are being persecuted by the Biden administration ( President Biden is Catholic). While Vice President Harris has referenced what another four years under Trump would look like, especially for women, and has talked about what happened on January 6th, when she speaks about the future and her vision for America, her theme is one of optimism and hope. So which message will resonate with the American people? Will it be the message of fear or will it be the message of hope? We will ask Pulitzer Prize winning author and investigative journalist David Cay Johnston his thoughts. Tech Tuesday brings Jefferson Graham to the show. He will look at how the race to give the world AI is resonating with investors. He’ll also check in on the new iPhone 16. Trump Sliding, Harris Rising in New Polling Data 9/23/24
Fresh polling by NBC News shows Democrat Kamala Harris ahead of Republican Donald Trump by 5 points among registered voters. Their national polling has Harris leading 49%-44%. It’s still within the margin of error, but better for Democrats in the last NBC poll in July which had Trump over Biden by 2 points. Demographic data included in the poll is also very interesting. We’ll talk about it with CBS and iHeartRadio political analyst Gary Dietrich. The Mark Thompson Show 9/23/24Patreon subscribers are the backbone of the show! Graphic Posts on Porn Site Have GOP Figuring Fallout From N.C. Gov Candidate 9/20/24
North Carolina GOP gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson insists that he did not make a series of perverse comments on a porn website. CNN reports they have found a trove of comments made over the years that are pretty disturbing. In addition to being accused of racially vile comments, the African-American politician is also alleged to have commented that he gets sexually aroused by secretly watching women in showers, and calling himself a “perv” who likes pornography with transgender people ― despite being notorious transphobic. The deadline for Robinson to step away from the North Carolina governor’s race passed last night. It is now too late for Republicans to put another candidate on the ballot. With an endorsement from Trump, some in the GOP are concerned the scandal will drag down MAGA aligned candidates. We will run it past journalist and political analyst Michael Shure. Next stop, Florida! We’ll find out what our wild brothers and sisters in Florida have been up to this week. Friday Fabulous Florida is always full of surprises. The Culture Blaster, Michael Snyder, has some great movies to review this week. Whether you’re headed to the movie theater or you’re streaming from home, he’s got you covered.

Kamala Harris Finally Gets the Debate Bounce? 9/19/24
New polling data shows support for Democratic Presidential candidate Kamala Harris is on the rise. Her support appears to be increasing both nationally and in the all important swing states. Mark joins in to discuss it. Are there two different scenarios come November for what happens to the legal cases pending against Trump? Sentencing in the New York state hush money case is on hold until after the election. The election interference case in Georgia is still pending along with federal cases. If Trump loses, do all of those cases move steam ahead. If he wins, how will it affect the state cases and sentences he’s waiting for? Former federal prosecutor and now defense attorney David Katz will join us to talk about this and more. Former KGO talkshow host and author of “She Said What?” Turi Ryder will join us in the second hour to talk about politics and other absurdities.

Republicans Opt Out of Safeguarding IVF, Vance Skips Vote Entirely 9/18/24
Republicans had the chance to protect access to to IVF and require insurance companies to cover such fertility procedures. Instead, they chose to strike down the bill despite knowing that voters are watching reproductive issues closely. Ohio Senator and GOP vice presidential candidate JD Vance didn’t even show up for the vote opting to attend a campaign rally in Michigan instead. It’s the second time this year that Republicans have squashed the idea of federally protecting access to IVF. Political analyst and presidential historian John Rothmann joins us today. Will ask him about that IBF vote and will also look into the pager attacks in Lebanon and what that could mean politically. “It’s the Planet, Stupid!” is so good! Mark had a chance to talk about the environment with eco-journalist Belinda Waymouth.

Video Surfaces Showing Trump Conspiring With the Heritage Foundation 9/17/24
Donald Trump has been distancing himself from Project 2025 saying he doesn’t know much about it, but a new video shows that he’s been in on it the whole time. In 2022, Trump spoke at the Heritage Foundation, praising them for laying the groundwork and making the plans for what he will do when “Americans give us a colossal mandate to save America. And that’s coming.” We welcome Pulitzer Prize winning author and investigative journalist David Cay Johnston to the show to discuss this and more. Trump Golf Game is Interrupted by Apparent Threat…FBI Revelations About Gunman 9/16/24
Donald Trump has another reason to thank the Secret Service. Sunday, he was at his golf club in Florida when he had to stop playing before the 6th hole. That’s because his protection detail spotted the barrel of a rifle sticking out of a fence. While the would be shooter didn’t get a chance to open fire, the Secret Service certainly did. The suspect managed to speed away in a car, but was arrested a short time later. Trump walked away injury free. The FBI says this is an “apparent attempted assassination” and they are investigating. In fresh post debate election polling, the GOP fight to flip the Senate is struggling. Republican candidates appear to be having some trouble in swing states. We will talk about all of it with CBS television and iHeart Radio Political Analyst Gary Dietrich. Let’s gather round for another tale from Courtney. Trump Henchman Loses It & Trump Won’t Back Off Pet Abductions 9/13/24
That it is Friday the 13th seems appropriate given the horror show that the Trump campaign is putting forward. Yesterday at a rally, Trump continued to insist that immigrants are abducting people’s pets, though he did not say they were eating them this time. Meanwhile, when Trump surrogate Stephen Miller was asked to back up some of the awful things he was saying about immigrants with facts, he couldn’t do it and he lost his mind. We will check in with journalist and political analyst Michael Shure to talk about the remaining days of the presidential campaigns. Get your sunglasses and your sense of humor together because we’re headed back to Florida! We’ll check in on the special fun our Southern friends are having this week with Friday Fabulous Florida. From Pet Eating to Election Denying, MAGA Duo Goes Full Bore 9/12/24
Trump and Vance are slamming down on the MAGA gas pedal. Despite knowing Haitians are not eating house pets in Ohio, that President Biden won the last election, and that nowhere in America are fetal executions lawful, the GOP candidates continue to amplify lies. The campaign strategy seems to be - no matter how outlandish the statement, the more you spew something and the more people hear it, the more they will accept and believe it. Richard Greene, the Civics Dean will stop by to talk politics. The judge in Trump’s New York hush money case has already pushed the sentencing date past the November election, but now Trump’s legal team is looking to delay it even further. Former federal prosecutor and now defense attorney, David Katz will join us with his perspective on the law.
