Ep 136: From Dissociation to Discrimination

In today's podcast I talk about the process of moving from dissociation/disconnection to discrimination. Typically, before consciousness can meet those parts during trauma renegotiation, they remain disconnected from the totality of who we are. When the dissociated parts begin to re-associate, we now have more energy available to work towards discriminating the different sensations, images, etc in the psyche that contribute to a greater sense of self. Moving from dissociation to discrimination takes a creative approach to trauma healing, yet can offer forward a beautiful window into the possibilities within the renegotiation of the unconscious. Ep 135: Held in arms of Synchronicity

In today's episode I discuss an essay I wrote on Jung's theory of synchronicity, the experience of meaningful coincidence where the inner subjective experience of a person collides with an outer objective experience.  I discuss how synchronicities can unlock stuck places in the trauma renegotiation process and make us feel as if we are held in the arms of something greater than ourselves. Ep 133: Discipline vs. Willpower, what’s the difference?

In today's episode I discuss the contrast between discipline and willpower. Willpower involves human will to me, remains quite personal. Discipline on the other hand, coming from the roots of disciple, connect us with devotion; devotion to something greater than yourself. That something is what I imagine to be soul, but I will leave you to decide what that is for you! Enjoy the show! Ep 132: Are we forcing down regulation on the nervous system?

In today's episode I amplify the importance of engaging with our higher activation states in the body in order to allow the body to remember its self regulating capacity that is often fragmented during traumatic experience. Although down regulating the nervous can be incredibly helpful in moment of intense stress, when chronically used, it may mean we are working against the physiology of what the traumatized state is communicating.  I discuss the importance of taking the time and space to get to the root of the nervous system high activation state so we aren't always reliant on parasympathetic strategies to get through our day. Ep 129: Turning Events into Experiences

In today's episode I discuss the difference between an "event" of something as opposed to an "experience" of something. For example, what is an "event" of depression vs. an "experience of depression. I amplify the qualitative nature of experience and how we can deepen into the feeling tone of how this event is moving in and through us.   To join my free community, head to https://dr-danielle-mcginnis.mn.co/share/ To follow me on social media, head to @drdaniellemcginnis To find my website, head to www.drdaniellemcginnis.com Be sure to rate, review, and share the show with those who you feel like would enjoy the show! Ep 128: Amplifying the Conflict Within Ourselves

In today's episode I archetypally amplify a scene from The Lord of the Rings to offer a mythical mirror into the inner conflicts we all face between different parts of the personality. To watch the visual of the scene, go to: https://youtu.be/NB2CNr692RE To check out Episode 123: Amplifying the Inner Persecutor, head here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ep-123-amplifying-the-inner-persecutor/id1524846848?i=1000557582999 This scene symbolizes an archetypal dynamic in an experience of trauma in which a figure associated with darkness tries to create an ego identification and a negative feedback loop of shame and dissociation.
