Every Man is a Theologian
Fathers, how can we prepare our children with solid answers for the questions they will face when they leave our homes? We need to disciple our children by training our kids how to think about God. A conversation with:Zach Mabry & Brody HollowayYou don’t need a seminary degree to equip your children, but you do need to make certain you’re pointing them to the correct source of Truth.Encourage your kids to always ask the question: “Why?”The Christian worldview is the only worldview that adequately answers the questions of the world we live in. Humans are created in the image of God, and the Bible explains where the value of human life comes from. The Lord has written the stamp of His image on the hearts of humanity.Right and wrong do exist. Human beings do have value. There is a plan the Lord has prepared for us after death.ResourcesRead Origin of Manhood: Every Man is a Theologian by Zach MabryP.S. If you liked this episode, we’d love to hear your feedback! King of Kings
We were created for eternity. This is a boot camp to prepare us to reign with Christ for eternity. The only thing that matters on that day is: “What did we do with Him?” We need to have eternity in view with everything we do. This is a conversation based on Gar Bozeman’s study prep for Be Strong 2020 (spring conference). Christ is King! This passage in Revelation 19 gives Christians hope for the return of Christ. We must look forward to Christ’s Second Coming and remember that He will exalt us higher than we could ever imagine in this life. Jesus is going to return and He is going to set everything right. The Church, the Bride of Christ, has an active role on that day. Jesus will clothe His bride in fine linen and purity. Resources Revelation 19:11-16P.S. Carry a Sword, Trust in the Lord
How should Christians view the use of weapons for self-defense? Throughout history, God has used people (with weapons in their hands) to stop evildoers. Scripture speaks against retaliation and protecting against persecution, but also describes the reality of self-protection. While we carry a weapon and prepare for danger, we do not trust those weapons as our savior. Our hope is in the sovereign hand of God.Your mindset is important and your level of training is important. Carrying a weapon comes with a high level of responsibility. The charge is for men to be ready to fight and protect those around him from evil. God has placed you where you are, with godly principles, so use them to protect others.ResourcesPsalm 144Psalm 82Psalm 18Nehemiah 4P.S. If you liked this episode, we’d love to hear your feedback! Round Table | Dealing with Temptation
How do you deal with temptation? Temptation itself is not sin. How do we live in the reality of temptation, but not yield to it?We must be sober-minded. Our flesh is tempted to sin against the holiness of God. Temptation promises temporary satisfaction that is followed by immediate regret and shame. It’s not worth it!Don’t focus on habits. Temptation is a desire-level issue. Don’t try to “get more motivated.” Our desires need to be renewed by Jesus. Only after that will we be able to chisel in some healthy habits.Pray for faith. Ask God to give you practical wisdom in the moment. God’s desire is to make you more like Jesus. He has enabled us to live according to His will and fight human passions.Conversation with Snowbird directors:Brody HollowayZach MabryRob ContiSpencer DavisResourcesRomans 7Galatians 5:16-17James 1:2-4P.S. Present Sufferings & Future Glory
How do we make sense of suffering?"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us." (Romans 8:18)What is the hardest day of your life you could imagine? Or, consider the sufferings of this present time of the Coronavirus. The suffering of this present age doesn’t compare to the glory that Christ will one day reveal. Let’s find hope and peace in that. For the Christian, our death means eternity with God. He is infinite in His glory, power, and majesty. Our hope rests in this reality. There is something that awaits us on the other side of death, and our sufferings in this life can not compare to it. We will one day see Jesus as we never have before. We will gaze upon the full glory of Christ our King!“The glory of God is the holiness of God put on display.” – John Piper“Glory is the created brightness that surrounds God’s revelation of Himself.” – Wayne GrudemResourcesRomans 1, 5:2, 8:18Psalm 19, 24Isaiah 6, 43:7, 48:11On Christ the Solid Rock (hymn)Romans: Righteousness From Heaven (Preaching the Word commentary) – Kent HughesWestminster Shorter CatechismP.S. Round Table | Giants in the Bible, Where Did They Come From?
Where did the Nephilim of Genesis 6 come from? The Bible discusses giants and angels in the Old Testament narratives but doesn’t give us a definitive explanation. There are many proposed explanations, so the Snowbird teachers walk through the strengths and weaknesses of each argument according to God's Word. Does Disaster Come to a City, Unless the Lord Has Done it?
"Is a trumpet blown in a city, and the people are not afraid? Does disaster come to a city, unless the Lord has done it?" Amos 3:6These words are notable for us in the midst of a global crisis. God’s people need to take note of His works and be ready with a posture of repentance. As a Christian, how should we respond to the disaster of the COVID-19 pandemic? Amos was a shepherd who was chosen by God to serve to speak His Words to the people of Israel. God spoke judgment against the pagans peoples, then against Judah, and finally against His people (Israel). He is in command of all things, at all times. We can’t explain every act of the Lord, but we must turn our hearts toward Him in humility and repentance. Seek the Lord, depart from wickedness, and strive for holiness. Confess personal and corporate sin, and pray for forgiveness today.ReferencesAmos 3 2 Timothy 2:19Romans 8Hebrews 7:25P.S. If you liked this episode, we’d love to hear your feedback! Round Table | Who Wrote the Bible and How Should We Read it?
What is the verbal plenary inspiration of Scripture? The Snowbird pastors discussed the authority and accuracy of God’s Word and how God expects us to respond to it.Every single word we read was intentionally placed there by the Holy Spirit. God used human writers to pen the exact words He ordained for us to have now. Paul wrote in 2 Timothy that all Scripture is breathed out by God, and every word has implications for the believer. God’s Word is good and it is the final authority. We must learn what the implications were for the original context and time of the passage, and then we must obey what it means for us right now.Conversation with Snowbird directors: - Brody Holloway - Zach Mabry - Rob Conti - Spencer Davis Resources: - 2 Timothy 3:16-17 View the original video recording on YouTube.P.S.
