No Sanity Required

This is Part 2 of Amir’s story of salvation, discipleship, persecution, and God’s faithfulness in Africa. The Gospel spreads through the work of church planting. Amir simply responded to God’s leading and people’s questions, and the church began to multiply. News of his miraculous rescue spread throughout the city. People continued having similar dreams, being urged to “see the words of Jesus.” After four months, there were about fifty people meeting regularly in small groups and growing into churches. This evangelistic movement was driven by the Holy Spirit and God’s Word. The Great Commission guides us to plant the church. Raise up pastors, leaders, deacons, and others to serve a people group so that the Gospel spreads through the work of church planting. When people see the evidence of Christ’s power in the lives of believers, then people will respond to the message of the Gospel. Persecution will inevitably increase, and the Church will multiply. The Word of God is a lion that simply needs to be let out of the cage. The mission to send spies into Jericho was a rescue mission for Rahab. Yahweh didn’t need more information about the walls of Jericho to conquer the city. He wanted to show His passion to redeem the lost and bring them into His eternal family.The story of Rahab is an extraordinary story of courage, faith, rescue, and the power of Yahweh. Later, she marries into one of the most powerful families of Israel. Rahab, the pagan prostitute, was now grafted deeply into God’s chosen people. Centuries later, Jesus was born into the lineage of Rahab. God didn’t send His Son into a royal lineage of religious people. Jesus was born into a family of broken people in a broken family. This story of romance and intrigue brings glory to Yahweh. God's Word has the power to save lost souls and sanctify the hearts of Christians. We don’t want to read our thoughts into it, we want to get God’s thoughts out. Faithful expository preaching will drive the listener to the Gospel every time. Two goals of expository preaching and teaching: Communicate the passage faithfully and accurately to your listeners.Equip the listener to interpret and study the Bible faithfully on their own. This is why we’re committed to expository Bible teaching and ministry. It is vital that every preacher and teacher handles the Word of God with accuracy. What is the value of being grafted into the local church, even as a teenager? The Snowbird teachers discuss why is this so important and share some ways to ensure you’re following the biblical model.The body of Christ needs each member to be integrated well. You can’t be joined to Jesus, but not His body. You have been gifted by the Holy Spirit to serve the body in ways that no one else is. When you think toward arriving at church on Sunday, think forward to how you can serve and fit into your local body in ways that bring glory to Christ.The work of the ministry is for the body—every one of us. The local church isn’t a building, but it is an assembly. There is something beautiful about the body of Christ meeting together for worship and encouragement. What does it take for a church (and youth pastor) to do student ministry well? It is vital that churches have a strong youth ministry. Student ministry is a high calling, and it should be taken seriously on every level. Know your students and know how to shepherd them.So few students have parents discipling them at home. These are their most formative years. When your mind is right, that’s what will correct you. Habits and actions don’t give us the power to conquer sin. Remember who Christ has declared you to be. We know we need to fight sin, but how? The Bible teaches us to fight from the position of our identity as forgiven children of God.We’re forgiven and declared righteous. By faith, we receive the righteousness of Christ and we are no longer slaves of sin. Now, we are slaves of righteousness and are constantly at war with sin. Instead of condemnation, we can walk by the Spirit of God and submit to Him instead of our sinful desires. This is why it is so important to abide in Christ through prayer and Bible study. We will fall (sometimes a lot). But the Holy Spirit in the heart of a Christian will not let sin have the final say.When God looks at you, He sees you through the righteousness of Jesus. This is the power that moves us towards sanctification on a daily basis.
