No Sanity Stories | Faith & Persecution in Africa (pt. 2)

This is Part 2 of Amir’s story of salvation, discipleship, persecution, and God’s faithfulness in Africa. The Gospel spreads through the work of church planting. Amir simply responded to God’s leading and people’s questions, and the church began to multiply. News of his miraculous rescue spread throughout the city. People continued having similar dreams, being urged to “see the words of Jesus.” After four months, there were about fifty people meeting regularly in small groups and growing into churches. This evangelistic movement was driven by the Holy Spirit and God’s Word. The Great Commission guides us to plant the church. Raise up pastors, leaders, deacons, and others to serve a people group so that the Gospel spreads through the work of church planting. When people see the evidence of Christ’s power in the lives of believers, then people will respond to the message of the Gospel. Persecution will inevitably increase, and the Church will multiply. It is critical to lay a doctrinal foundation for new believers in church planting and missions.Resources1 Peter 3:13Acts 8:1-8, 11:19Want to find out what we’re learning? No Sanity Stories | Faith & Persecution in Africa (pt. 1)

The Word of God is a lion that simply needs to be let out of the cage. Take the leash off and turn it loose. This is part 1 of a current story of the faith and persecution of a Muslim-background believer in Africa. Some of our missionary partners handed Amir a copy of the New Testament during a language learning class last year, and the Holy Spirit has turned his life upside down. This part of Amir’s story covers his initial conversion from Islam to Christianity, the power of God’s Word in transforming his life, and the faith the Holy Spirit used to carry him through physical persecution.“I cannot reject the hope that I’ve found in Jesus Christ. When I die, I’ll die with the name of Jesus on my lips.” – AmirReferencesRomans 1Greg’s blog & storyP.S. If you liked this episode, we’d love to hear your feedback! Jesus & His Crazy Grandmas | Rahab

The mission to send spies into Jericho was a rescue mission for Rahab. Yahweh didn’t need more information about the walls of Jericho to conquer the city. He wanted to show His passion to redeem the lost and bring them into His eternal family. The story of Rahab is an extraordinary story of courage, faith, rescue, and the power of Yahweh. Later, she marries into one of the most powerful families of Israel. Rahab, the pagan prostitute, was now grafted deeply into God’s chosen people. Centuries later, Jesus was born into the lineage of Rahab. God didn’t send His Son into a royal lineage of religious people. Jesus was born into a family of broken people in a broken family. This story of romance and intrigue brings glory to Yahweh. Our God finds great joy in redeeming lost and broken people to Himself.Rahab recognized the strength of the Lord.Rahab recognized the glory of the Lord.Rahab cried out for mercy from the Lord.ResourcesJoshua 2Joshua and the Big Wall – Veggie TalesP.S. What is Biblical Exposition & Why is it so Important? | Round Table

God's Word has the power to save lost souls and sanctify the hearts of Christians. We don’t want to read our thoughts into it, we want to get God’s thoughts out. Faithful expository preaching will drive the listener to the Gospel every time. Two goals of expository preaching and teaching: Communicate the passage faithfully and accurately to your listeners.Equip the listener to interpret and study the Bible faithfully on their own. This is why we’re committed to expository Bible teaching and ministry. It is vital that every preacher and teacher handles the Word of God with accuracy. We must communicate God’s original message and meaning from the text, and teach it in a way that is understandable by your people. Conversation with Snowbird directors:Brody HollowayZach MabryRob ContiResources2 Timothy 2:15Redeemer Community Church, Jeff MartinP.S. A Conversation on Parenting with Brody & Little

Brody and Little share some deeply personal stories from their 20 years of parenting. They discuss what they've learned through biblical wisdom and life experiences to encourage other parents seeking to honor Christ and love their kids well. Our kids will primarily learn from us. We’re preparing them to live for Jesus today, and follow Him for the rest of their lives. “If I could re-live my whole life, I would devote my entire ministry to reaching children for God.” – D.L. Moody“The greatest need my people have for me is my personal holiness.” – Robert Murray M’CheyneEmail Snowbird with any parenting questions you have, and we’ll connect you with other marriage resources we’ve produced. Here are a few main points from the recording:Recognize your children are a gift from the Lord. Your children's view of God will be shaped by how you parent.Recognize they are born with a sinful will, so we must teach them to obey and submit their will.ReferencesProverbs 22:15Deuteronomy 6:5-73 John 1:4Jesus Storybook BibleThe Bible ProjectYouVersionP.S. A Conversation on Marriage with Brody & Little

Coming up on 26 years of marriage, Brody and Little have started to figure out a rhythm that is worth learning from.Don’t listen to your heart! Think, process, and walk each day with a mind that is submitted to Christ. Don’t neglect your emotions, but push back fleshly emotions by submitting them to Christ. The life of every Christian is about balance and intention. Find the middle ground of serving one another by engaging both your heart and mind. ResourcesMatthew 5Dangerous Duty of Delight by John PiperP.S. Round Table | Why the Local Church Matters

What is the value of being grafted into the local church, even as a teenager? The Snowbird teachers discuss why is this so important and share some ways to ensure you’re following the biblical model. The body of Christ needs each member to be integrated well. You can’t be joined to Jesus, but not His body. You have been gifted by the Holy Spirit to serve the body in ways that no one else is. When you think toward arriving at church on Sunday, think forward to how you can serve and fit into your local body in ways that bring glory to Christ. The work of the ministry is for the body—every one of us. The local church isn’t a building, but it is an assembly. There is something beautiful about the body of Christ meeting together for worship and encouragement. The early church valued this, and we should too.Conversation with Snowbird directors:Brody HollowayZach MabryRob ContiSpencer DavisResources1 Corinthians 12Ephesians 4Hebrews 10:24-25, 13:171 John 2:19P.S. Round Table | Why Do People Think Youth Ministry is a Joke?

What does it take for a church (and youth pastor) to do student ministry well? It is vital that churches have a strong youth ministry. Student ministry is a high calling, and it should be taken seriously on every level. Know your students and know how to shepherd them.So few students have parents discipling them at home. These are their most formative years. We’ve got to meet them with doctrinal integrity, relational investment, and a serious commitment to God’s Word.Conversation with Snowbird directors:- Brody Holloway- Zach Mabry- Rob Conti- Spencer DavisResourcesMatthew 18:5-6P.S. Round Table | Fighting Sin, The War is Already Won

When your mind is right, that’s what will correct you. Habits and actions don’t give us the power to conquer sin. Remember who Christ has declared you to be. We know we need to fight sin, but how? The Bible teaches us to fight from the position of our identity as forgiven children of God.We’re forgiven and declared righteous. By faith, we receive the righteousness of Christ and we are no longer slaves of sin. Now, we are slaves of righteousness and are constantly at war with sin. Instead of condemnation, we can walk by the Spirit of God and submit to Him instead of our sinful desires. This is why it is so important to abide in Christ through prayer and Bible study. We will fall (sometimes a lot). But the Holy Spirit in the heart of a Christian will not let sin have the final say. When God looks at you, He sees you through the righteousness of Jesus. This is the power that moves us towards sanctification on a daily basis. The core of who we are has been transformed and we’re going to look more like Jesus every day.Conversation with Snowbird directors:Brody HollowayZach MabryRob ContiSpencer DavisResourcesRomans 7, 81 John 1Make War by TedashiiP.S.
