Interview with WAAX

We had the pleasure of interviewing WAAX over Zoom video! The beating heart of the Australian post-punk scene, WAAX, have released their highly anticipated second studio album, At Least I'm Free, via Dew Process. The band have also shared the music video for the k.flay co-written, high octane LP standout "No Doz," which follows on the heels of the biting, incendiary singles already released from the album: the QMA Award winning "Most Hated Girl," the Linda Perry co-written "Dangerous" and "Read Receipts." Speaking on the Phoebe Faye-directed video for "No Doz," the band's singer Maz DeVita had this to say: "'No Doz' is about control. More specifically it's about losing it. In the video I have no control in the shopping trolley. I am at the mercy of the band who is pushing me around. The video reflects the newer, fresher vibe that we were going for when writing 'No Doz.' It's filled with energy, reckless abandon and bursts of color." On At Least I'm Free, WAAX teamed up with the production team behind their debut breakout album Big Grief - Bernard Fanning (Powderfinger) and Grammy winner Nick DiDia (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Rage Against The Machine). The result is an honest and indignant album laden with raw vulnerability and contrasted by the high octane energy WAAX is renowned for. We want to hear from you! Interview with VeeAlwaysHere

We had the pleasure of interviewing VeeAlwaysHere over Zoom video! Producer, Songwriter, and Recording Artist, VeeAlwaysHere, recently dropped his EP, ego: playlist I. This EP was a way to prove and challenge himself towards becoming as versatile as a producer, songwriter, and artist VeeAlwaysHere can become. He states; "Not only did I want to let go of my usual writing and producing habits, but also sounds, subject matter and styles that I generally gravitate towards in my process. This project is all about me being entirely outside of my comfort zone, and the title EGO symbolizes the idea of me being comfortable in a variety of different genres as a musician. EGO is about the music artist that I want to be and have always envisioned myself being one day." Hailing from Siberian Russia, VeeAlwaysHere has always had a great passion for music, and a heavy influence from American Pop music. The ability to tell a story in its most vulnerable and raw way moved him despite the heavy language barrier. As a child, VeeAlwaysHere pushed through the language barrier to write songs, however, because he couldn't speak English - they were initially just gibberish. While having mastered the English language in a mere 2 and a half years, VeeAlwaysHere is now a self-taught musician who handles his production, writing, recording, and mixing. "From start to finish the entire song is my fingerprint all throughout. I really like to focus on an emotion or a feeling as a starting point of any record." We want to hear from you! Interview with Barny Fletcher

We had the pleasure of interviewing Barny Fletcher over Zoom video! London artist Barny Fletcher has released his new mixtape, JETPACK! Barny Fletcher has seen a meteoric rise since his debut, garnering support from BBC's Radio 1, Australia's Triple J, and features everywhere from a collaboration on the latest DJ Shadow album, a Euro 2020 fashion design campaign with Umbro, as well as inclusion on the soundtrack for Michaela Coel's HBO series I May Destroy You. Today's new single comes on the heels of previous track "Backstroke," which landed on Spotify's New Music Friday and has already racked up 250K Spotify plays since its release last month. Barny first started teasing the forthcoming JETPACK mixtape late last year with "Breakfast at Isabel's," which featured a playful video co-directed by Barny himself, and then followed with track "90s Baby" this summer. A budding pop prodigy with undeniable charisma, Barny Fletcher first debuted in 2019 with singles "Christ Flow" and "Blu Skyes," which set the stage for his hotly-tipped debut project, CANVAS2033, and its follow-up, BOZO. The releases sparked support from BBC Radio 1 on their 'Introducing Playlist,' leading to a prestigious performance slot at the BBC Introducing Stage at Radio 1 Big Weekend. He has also played a sold out London headline show as well as festival appearances at Lollapalooza Paris, Reading & Leeds, and The Great Escape. Growing up in a small Somerset, UK village to a photographer father, filmmaker mother, and very little else to occupy his hyperactive nature other than an eclectic record collection, Barny delved into the catalogs of artists such as The Kinks, Eminem, Bob Dylan, and Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, a chaotic fusion that still influences him today. Getting his start uploading weekly tracks to SoundCloud, Barny's sound has evolved into a kaleidoscopic mix of hip-hop, R&B, pop, and disco, alongside a distinct lyrical take on the absurdity of the everyday. He has landed on Spotify's NMF UK playlist 7 times, has seen Front Left, Our Generation, and Free Form (including the cover!) Spotify placements, as well as on Apple Music's New Music Daily. Outside of music, Barny enjoys developing his fashion brand 'Verlimont,' a passion project of which he enjoys sourcing quality materials and even hand-applying finishing touches himself. Interview with DJ Politik

We had the pleasure of interviewing DJ Politik over Zoom video! Los Angeles native DJ Politik is known for creating memories that last a lifetime through his impeccable curation of the songs that define us. With a natural ability to connect with clients, collaborators and fans alike, DJ Politik (Paul Purman) has worked with hospitality giants, Fortune 500 companies, and luxury brands, to A-list celebrities, artists, and business magnates. Politik (Paul Purman) is proudly expanding his role as part of the "1942 Crew" with a new creative partnership between him and Don Julio Tequila. The DJ, producer, and luxury tequila ambassador will be spearheading the brand's music-driven content, starting with a docu-series titled "Beyond The Booth." The series will give fans exclusive behind-the-scenes access into the studio where he will collaborate and interview industry-leading songwriters and producers. In Politik's first filmed feature in partnership with Don Julio 1942, he sits down with GRAMMY nominated, multi-platinum songwriter Kaine to discuss the making of hits like Doja Cat's "Best Friend" while they sip on luxury tequila. Much like the expertly-aged flavor of Don Julio 1942, DJ Politik emphasizes that the best things take time, as evidenced by his own storied artistic career that's led him to cross paths with Post Malone, The Chainsmokers, Bruno Mars, and more. Next up for Politik is an official remix of Summer Walker and SZA's R&B smash "No Love". Crafting a remix that's consistent with the trademark energy the Los Angeles-based producer and DJ has become known for, exuberant synth melodies weave through the enticing chopped vocals of the anthemic track, allowing Politik to showcase his ear for club-ready grooves that get the whole dance floor moving. Interview with Rachel Grae

We had the pleasure of interviewing Rachel Grae over Zoom video! Rachel Grae is a forward thinking, rising pop star, invoking the youthful style of Olivia Rodrigo, as well as the wisdom and pure vocal power of singers like Adele. Today, the fresh face in music releases the video for her new track "Right Person Right Time," following the mental spirals and what-ifs that define being in the midst of gut-wrenching heartbreak. Going back and forth between small details of a past relationship and the present moment of sadness, she reimagines the outcome of this relationship if little moments had been different. Here, Grae wears her heart on her sleeve, expressing frustration and sadness at the thought of a different moment in time when it might have been "right." This new song comes on the heels of her two previous singles, "Friend Like Me" and "It'll Be Okay," invoking sentimental emotions in listeners and showcasing a rare vulnerability in Grae that sets her apart. Through articulate and thoughtful lyrics that feel like they've been ripped out of the pages of a personal diary, Grae dives head first into topics that most might shy away from, making her a deeply authentic and inspiring role model to adolescents – or even adults – experiencing the trials and tribulations of vulnerable relationships. Nearing 2 million Spotify monthly listeners despite her career just beginning, Grae has seen great success in a short time, already accumulating more than 14 million likes on Tik Tok and growing both her Instagram followers and Spotify monthly listeners by 800% since May 2022. Grae is signed to FrtyFve, a London-based record label that transforms viral moments into long term music careers. Other artists signed to FrtyFve include Todrick Hall, Megan McKenna and more. Grae is managed by Groundwork Artist and repped by Wasserman Music. The rising artist will continue to release music in the coming months, with more songs to stream and more live shows to be announced. ABOUT RACHEL GRAE New York based pop artist Rachel Grae has emerged as one of the year's fastest growing talents. Her honest songwriting is the equivalent to a page ripped from her diary and addresses psychological, cerebral, and emotional responses to life's events, all delivered by her powerhouse vocals. With 1.8M monthly listeners on Spotify and 1M fans across social media, Rachel has delivered 25M streams to date. Interview with Forester

We had the pleasure of interviewing Forester over Zoom video! Following up their spring 2022 album, Watercolor, the Los Angeles-based indie electronic duo, Forester (aka David Parris and Xander Carlson) return with the new single "All I Need" on Kygo's Palm Tree Records. "All I Need" takes a sharp turn from previous Forester releases, bringing a dose of filtered house and an irresistible chorus sample to the duo's signature organic electronic production. It's a summertime hit and then some. The accompanying music video shows the duo performing on an idyllic beach, and as the daylight turns into a picturesque sunset, the video follows a couple through a trippy and passionate dance party in the sand as the song's lyrics "You Are All I Need" echo behind them. Inspired by nature and the natural beauty in the world, longtime friends, Parris and Carlson launched the Forester project in 2019 and experienced immediate success with their debut single "Spark" which collected more than 5.8 million streams on Spotify. True to its name, the song was an auspicious beginning that caught the ear of an A&R at Kygo's Palm Tree Records, where Forester signed in 2020. The guys further developed the Forester sound, at 8,000 feet, at Carlson's family cabin in Mammoth Lakes, California, on the eastern slope of the vast Sierra Nevada mountain range. Musically, Forester fell into a dreamy, achingly emotional, and thoroughly sophisticated, middle ground between the indie folk of Bon Iver – a hero to both Parris and Carlson – and melody-focused electronic giants like Avicii. The music made in the mountains became their 2020 sophomore LP, A Range Of Light. Three albums down, Forester has now amassed over 75 million streams. A pillar of the project is the preservation of nature that's inspired them, with the guys donating a portion of the revenue from their first album to The Nature Conservancy, who used it to plant roughly 1,000 trees. Their ultimate goal is for their streaming to be at net zero carbon emissions. We want to hear from you!
