Interview with Georgia
We had the pleasure of interviewing Georgia over Zoom video!UK artist Georgia recently released her fantastic new record, Euphoric, co-produced by Rostam (Haim, Carly Rae Jepsen, Clairo). An accomplished drummer and producer, Euphoric marks the first time that Georgia has worked with another producer on her own material. The result is ten blistering new songs that vibrate with energy. The album’s lead single “It’s Euphoric,” was the first track that Rostam and Georgia wrote together that went on to dictate the entirety of the album’s colorful soundscape. The New York Times described it as "dreamy, upbeat reverie...which captures the buzz of new love. She settles for a simple, repeated refrain of “it’s euphoric,” giving that last word a prismatic luminosity." With a BBC Sounds of 2020 nomination and a Mercury Music Prize Short List under her belt already (for her previous album, Seeking Thrills), Georgia is one of the UK's most celebrated young musicians. She's collaborated with the likes of Mura Masa, Gorillaz, Shygirl, Baby Tate, Dan Carey and David Jackson, and, most recently written with Years and Years’ Olly Alexander and on Shania Twain’s album Queen Of Me. With Euphoric, she's outdone herself again. We want to hear from you! Interview with Ellise
We had the pleasure of interviewing ELLISE over Zoom video!Coined the “dark pop princess,” independent singer, songwriter, and producer Ellise is now “entering her villain era” as she is slated to release an exciting rollout of all-new music in 2023, beginning with her new single, “Pretty In The Dark,” alongside pop artist Ashley Sienna. Produced by Inverness, “Pretty In The Dark” was co-written amongst the three artists as a song intended to manifest both beauty and love. Although it has yet to premiere, the track’s outro has already captured the attention of the internet, growing more viral by the day as fans re-purpose the audio clip to claim the sound’s manifestation powers. A moody-alt single that brings women to their highest power and men to their knees, “Pretty In The Dark” is a standout collaboration with a captivating hook and magnetic electro-pop beat that will make anyone want to listen on repeat.MORE ABOUT ELLISE:With multiple full-length projects already under her belt, Ellise has established herself in the industry as a young, powerhouse hitmaker, having all but trademarked her one-of-a-kind “dark pop” sound. Leading with her girly-meets-spooky aesthetic, Ellise’s artistry straddles the lines between all things eerie and sinister in contrast with her deep appreciation for the beautiful and feminine. Listening to Ellise’s music feels like holding a mirror to one’s innermost personal struggles; her lyrics offer a safe space for reflection and introspection through the perspectives of someone who has openly struggled with mental health and survived depression, anxiety, toxic relationships, and trauma. Just as the art of music has gotten Ellise through the darkest times of her life, she pens her original songs with the hope of inspiring fans to become the most dynamic versions of themselves and to move forward confidently in life. As a fully independent artist, Ellise continues to grow into an older, wiser, more self-assured version of herself, and her new music can be characterized as a rebirth, symbolizing this new personal chapter of immense life change. Interview with Silly Boy Blue
We had the pleasure of interviewing Silly Boy Blue over Zoom video!Led by the dreamy indie-pop and nostalgic shoegaze vibes of “Not a Friend” (watch), which explores confusing relationships and blurred boundaries, the artistic French native’s moody February release “Widow Dreams Forever” (watch) saw her enter this new era in style – taking audiences through a theatrical journey of freeing herself from the stigma of the grieving widow during a strikingly artistic, editorial music video. Eternal Lover offers an artistically raw and ‘no holds barred’ insight into the emotional chaos that ensues when facing unrequited love and discovering your identity. A twelve-track collection of hazy, indie-pop gems helmed in sessions between Paris, London and L.A, each song plays like an intimate diary entry, deep from the mind of an introspective artist ready to breakthrough from the underground of the French capital. Eternal Lover’s breath-taking, conceptual artwork was shot by the renowned French duo Pierre et Gilles, famous for their highly stylized creations for pop icons like Madonna and Kylie Minogue – a major co-sign for Silly Boy Blue’s artistic ambitions.Meanwhile, Paco del Rosso and Silly Boy Blue’s stellar co-production across Eternal Lover is further brought to life via London’s in-demand mix wizard Geoff Swan, who mixes Eternal Lover fresh from his work for the likes of Caroline Polachek (“Welcome to My Island”), Rina Sawayama (“Hold the Girl”) and Charli XCX (“Yuck”).Borrowing her name from a David Bowie song from the early part of his career before stardom, Silly Boy Blue shares with him a taste for risk and a deep-rooted desire to push norms and codes. Initially honing her writing skills as a music journalist for France’s most prolific tastemaker publications, Silly Boy Blue eventually began putting pen to paper for a different artistic purpose.Connecting with audiences with her breakout 2021 debut album Breakup Songs – offering a uniquely introspective outlook on heartbreak and the devastation of lost love – international acclaim for Silly Boy Blue has poured in from the likes of PAPER, Wonderland, Rolling Stone, Clash, Under the Radar and Rain Magazine, alongside significant hype within the blogosphere and her official COLORS debut in 2020.We want to hear from you! Interview with Sadye
We had the pleasure of interviewing Sadye over Zoom video!Dark alt pop singer/songwriter Sadye signed to vnclm_ x Atlantic Records, and recently released a new song called "Biblical". The song is about "going back to someone you know is bad for you over and over again. Like, yes, I’m caught in this person's web, but maybe I know exactly what I’m doing," confides the artist. Inspired by her intense struggle with cancer, discovering self-worth, and dealing with toxic relationships, her lyrics are steeped in a sarcastic form of catharsis as she learns to love her literal, and figurative, scars; a theme beautifully juxtaposed by catchy, modern melodies and edgy pop production. Her music has received placements in ABC/HULU's Abbott Elementary and Netflix’s Working Moms.Sadye transcends the limits of experimental and mainstream alt-pop, challenging listeners and breathing new life into the genre with otherworldly mystique and uncompromising vision. From humble beginnings as a small town singer/songwriter, Sadye writes with depth and heart, often taking on unexpectedly dark and heavy themes. Inspired by her intense struggle with cancer, discovering self-worth, and dealing with toxic relationships, her lyrics are steeped in a sarcastic form of catharsis as she learns to love her literal, and figurative, scars; a theme beautifully juxtaposed by catchy, modern melodies and edgy pop production, appealing to fans of Kim Petras and Charlie XCX to Nine Inch Nails and The Weeknd. Sadye’s debut single, “Biblical,” represents a rebirth of sorts, building on what came before, but charging forward without looking back – beautiful and catchy, yet dark and familiar, Sadye invites listeners to join her ethereal cult and indulge their deepest inhibitions. We want to hear from you! Interview with Incendiary
We had the pleasure of interviewing Incendiary over Zoom video!Armed with crushing metallic riffs, instantly both fresh and familiar, Incendiary populate each of their four full-length albums with irresistibly energized rhythms and adrenalized urgency. Change The Way You Think About Pain is their leanest and unapologetically meanest yet. The quintet weaned on the Long Island, New York, hardcore scene have more to say than ever. Sharply biting and insightful lyrics sit atop blunt metalcore in a perfect soundtrack to throw a brick through a window.Incendiary delivers a sound of its own, mixing classic passion and modern power. Frontman Brendan Garrone, guitarists Brian Audley and Rob Nobile, and drummer Dan Lomeli, cite East Coast hardcore heroes like Vision Of Disorder, 108, Indecision and Glassjaw as part of Incendiary’s formative DNA. Less familiar listeners might liken them to a very heavy Rage Against The Machine. The band returned to Will Putney of Graphic Nature Audio (Knocked Loose, Every Time I Die, Vein.fm) to engineer, mix and master the new release. Many essential genre bands never made a second album, let alone a fourth. “We are kind of in rare territory being a hardcore band on their fourth LP,” Garrone concedes. “It feels like a milestone. By now, you’re either ‘supposed’ to drastically change your sound or have it be the exact same thing as the record before,” he adds. “We didn’t want to do either of those things. Our focus was on refining the sound that we’ve optimally been working towards rather than any desire to make a huge pivot.” Audley says that in addition to the more focused songwriting on Change The Way You Think About Pain, “we also wanted it to be more aggressive and more abrasive, in terms of songs and production.”Thematically, Incendiary’s fourth album confronts the hyper-polarization of American society, those who confuse selfishness with freedom, and the lengths we’ll go to in order to avoid pain and maintain comfort. The socio-political pulse found throughout Cost of Living remains, with a deeper exploration of the introspective personal lyrics Garrone started to introduce on Thousand Mile Stare. “The album is a mix of both the socio-politically driven content and darker, more personalized subjects. The album title is meant to conjure the concept of pain avoidance,” Garrone explains. “Most of the songs have some kind of tie back to the things everyone does to avoid feeling any semblance of pain. ‘Pain avoidance’ is a phrase me and Brian came across and kept in the back of our minds.”We want to hear from you!
