Interview with Imogen Mahdavi

Together with American Songwriter we had the pleasure of interviewing Imogen Mahdavi over Zoom video! London-based singer-songwriter Imogen Mahdavi is known for her unique and rich vocals, which tell a thousand stories. With a slew of wistful indie-pop releases under her belt, the musician has forged her own path, carving her name with her beautifully introspective creations. Radiating with sincerity and grace, Imogen is unlike anything you have heard before. ,Following the success of "Crowd of Thoughts", a hauntingly epic track produced by Grammy Winner Eddie Serafica (Hamzaa, James Bay, Buddy Guy), Imogen is unveiling her latest single, the incandescent "Some Things Are Best Over Said" Produced by Dan Holloway (Lume, Jordan Stephens, Kwaku Asante). Her distinct, falsetto vocals dance elegantly atop floaty melodies and twangy country style guitars, creating a hypnotic release. Reminiscent of Lana Del Rey, Imogen's simple and minimalist arrangements, combined with echoing harmonies give you an uplift feel to cleanse the soul. Inspired by the likes of Joan Baez and Anita Carter, Imogen wanted to reignite the old romance of country songs, whilst simultaneously creating something for people to dance to. "Some Things Are Best Over Said" narrates wearing your heart on your sleeve, not only romantically, but also with your friends, family, and creative passions. The songwriter confides, "Life is short, and I am not one to be coy about my love for someone. If you make me happy, I want to shout it from the rooftops and show my appreciation. I think we get too fixated on being too much for others, not being cool enough, but there is nothing more dope to me than an honest heart and someone who isn't afraid of being judged for showing it." The sky's the limit for this talented artist who has also received wide support from the likes of BBC radio, Clash Magazine, i-D Magazine, ITV as well as having performed a lead role on the hit UK nationwide play 'Dressed' (which she also penned the music for). "Some Things Are Best Over Said" was released on September 25th, 2020. We want to hear from you! Interview with Mike Sabath

Together with American Songwriter we had the pleasure of interviewing Mike Sabath over Zoom video! After achieving incredible success as a young producer and songwriter working with Lizzo, Miguel, J Balvin, Meghan Trainor, Usher, Selena Gomez, Eddie Benjamin and more, multi-instrumentalist Mike Sabath makes his Warner Records debut with his infectious new song "Good Energy." "I made this song before the current state of the world all went down. It was tapped into a place of bliss and you can feel it, it's real. It's not like I was trying to make a 'good energy' song, it was like, I was just feeling great…and I need the song personally right now and I know other people need it too," said Mike Sabath. Not only did Mike co-produce Meghan Trainor's 2019 single "Wave," he featured on the track and performed with the Grammy-winning superstar on The Voice and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He now returns to the forefront with his first solo artist release for Warner Records. Born and raised in upstate New York, Mike Sabath has had music flowing out of him since before he knew how to work a computer. He naturally started to create music in 4th grade with his first song "The Carlie Song" which he wrote for his elementary school crush to express how he felt about her before they both went away to summer camp. In 7th grade, he wrote a song titled "Hand in Hand" which he recorded with a chorus of 140 local kids and raised more than $10,000 for the charity Ability Beyond Disability. A year later, he wrote, arranged and recorded "Talk About It" to raise funds for the Westchester Mental Health Association. Throughout middle school and high school, Mike wrote and recorded songs in his basement daily, which eventually brought him to Los Angeles where he and his manager, Don Isaac, would sneak into studios to have recording sessions before anybody knew who they were. By the time he was 18, Mike had some high-profile studio sessions under his belt and was featured in The New Yorker who called him "The teenage hitmaker from Westchester County." Mike deferred admission to Harvard to pursue music full time and that decision really paid off as he now has written and produced hundreds of songs and is one of the industry's most sought after songwriters and producers, working with artists such as J Balvin, Usher, Miguel, Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez, Meghan Trainor, Lizzo and Adam Levine. Interview with Phem

Together with American Songwriter and Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing Phem over Zoom audio! For Phem, this self discovery has paid off. Over the past couple of years she has both been featured on and co-wrote songs with a slew of artists including G-Eazy, Machine Gun Kelly, Lil Tracy and Iann Dior. She has toured the world supporting artists such as Lil Xan and Grandson. Phem has also become a regular contributor in John Feldmann's camp, writing a song on The Used's Heartwork and most recently Jxdn's single 'So What'. It was her own VACUMHEAD EP released last year that racked millions of streams and gained her a cult following of teens inking her name on their limbs. And somehow she accomplished all this while remaining completely independent. Having remained somewhat quiet in 2020, Phem is now gearing up to release a series of new singles. Machine Gun Kelly and Audio Up's four-part scripted Halloween musical HALLOWEEN IN HELL, which has hit 500K+ streams since it's October 19th debut. The podcast and soundtrack stars Machine Gun Kelly, Tommy Lee, Dana Dentata, 24kGoldn, iann dior, and PHEM – who contributes vocals to a few tracks. The new three-track bundle includes "In Hell It's Always Halloween Remix" featuring iann dior and PHEM, "Just Us Two" featuring Dana Dentata, and "Watch Me" featuring BigKlit. These tracks were released through Sony Music RECORDS and Audio Up Music, and are available now through all digital and streaming platforms. HALLOWEEN IN HELL's finale episode is slated to release Friday, October 30th, with its final tracks set to drop on Friday, November 13th. The series will be accompanied by a four-part making-of documentary to be released as bonus content. Stay tuned for more. About HALLOWEEN IN HELL: A scripted horror musical podcast, just in time for Halloween. Rock legend Tommy Lee stars as the Devil, featuring original music and performances by Machine Gun Kelly, iann dior, Dana Dentata, PHEM, and 24kGoldn. On Halloween, Satan lures three performers to his sadistic game show in Hell where they must perform or die. The winner returns to Earth. The losers will play out their showbiz careers in fiery hellfire and damnation. About Audio Up: Audio Up CEO Jared Gutstadt explains, "Halloween, much like other major holidays, deserves its own entertainment tent pole. While a lot of people focus on Christmas, Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve, we really believe that Halloween is an undersurface time of year for folks to enjoy original content. I was always a fan of 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' and 'Nightmare Before Christmas,' and we believe we're creating an evergreen franchise that will allow us to unlock new stories every year with original music, possibly ending up in the realm of live or visual content. Machine Gun Kelly was an extremely logical and obvious partner for us. His brand pairs well with the season." We want to hear from you! Interview with Mayday Parade

Together with Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing Mayday Parade over Zoom video! Alternative mainstay Mayday Parade released Out of Here – a brand-new EP on October 16th, 2020 via Rise Records. https://riserecords.lnk.to/OutOfHere In early March, Mayday Parade - Derek Sanders, Brooks Betts, Alex Garcia, Jake Bundrick, and Jeremy Lenzo – stepped into the studio with longtime collaborators Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount to record the EP. On "Lighten Up Kid," the band continues to explore the power of self-love and finding confidence within, a theme that has run deep throughout their catalog. "'Lighten Up Kid' is about trying to find yourself and the strength to keep fighting for what you believe in," Bundrick said. "It's about being or feeling cut down and hung out to dry but standing up for yourself in the end." The EP follows the release of 2018's Sunnyland LP, the band's 5th full-length album which has streamed over 62 MILLION times and took the band to five continents since its release. A band known for their high-energy and almost non-stop live shows, Mayday Parade had to cancel their North American Tour in support of their newly released single "It Is What It Is" in early April along with several festival appearances slated for this summer. The canceled touring hasn't stopped them from connecting with fans on a series of live Happy Hours throughout quarantine and earlier this summer, they released a feel-good cover of The Beatles' classic, "I Want To Hold Your Hand" which featured friends including The Maine's John O'Callaghan, We The Kings' Travis Clark, Dan Lambton (Formerly of Real Friends), Knuckle Puck's Joe Taylor and Grayscale's Collin Walsh. Fans can also look forward to special themed, ticketed livestreams planned throughout the fall to tide fans (and the band) over until they can return to the road. 2021 is already shaping up to be an exciting year with performances at Riot Fest (Chicago, IL), Four Chord Music Fest (Pittsburgh, PA), Nova Rock Festival (Austria), Greenfield Festival (Switzerland), Hurricane Festival (Germany), and Southside Festival (Germany) with much more on the horizon.
