Mistakes or miss-takes? with Denise Holland

I'd love your feedback, send me a messageIn this episode of the Simple Reflections Podcast I’m joined by Denise Holland, a Performance Consultant and speaker from Kent.I really enjoyed hearing about Denise’ journey from having to walk away from a dream role as Scotland’s Netball Coach in the run up to the Commonwealth Games, feeling lost and asking the universe for inspiration... and heading off in a completely new direction.Denise and I talked about having fun, “Playing Freely”, the title of her upcoming book, her openness to follow what felt right and the curiosity to go again that lies at the heart of all of us!I’d love to hear if you’ve ever asked the universe for some kind of direction and what showed up?  Website: https://www.deniseholland.org/The conference Denise mentioned 5-7 March 2025: https://conference.dare2bu.co.uk/At the end of the recording, I mentioned a couple of things:·       The Clarity in Decision Making Workshop will be on Wednesday 12 March from 1830-1930 GMT.  If that interests you follow this link to receive a free 10 page guide on the topic and I’ll let you know how to sign up.·       Bite-sized Breather, a free 30-minute call with my good friend Lynne Brannigan and I on Wednesday at 10:30 UK time.  If you’d like details, follow this link.Support the showThe Simple Reflections Podcast is a collection of gentle conversations with people from all walks of life, looking at small, seemingly insignificant ideas that have gone on to have profound impacts on the lives of the guests. Lessons from grief with Al Milledge

I'd love your feedback, send me a messageThe latest episode of the Simple Reflections Podcast is with my good friend Al Milledge, a Coach who lives on the South Coast, near Eastbourne! This was a beautiful conversation that gently meanders through a number of topics but starts with Al’s experience of loss in 2024.  He shares his experience, his realisations and the things he’s continuing to learn as his experience unfolds.I love creating this podcast, I never know where the conversation will take us and this week is no exception.  I would never have planned a conversation that encapsulates: grief; the privilege of the coaching relationship; and the recollection of a Rifleman’s experience in Afghanistan… who’d have thought it!I’d love to hear where you’ve found a conversation that meanders through unrelated topics in a way that feels perfect?  Website: https://almilledge.com/At the end of the recording I mentioned a couple of things:·       The Clarity in Decision Making Workshop will be on Wednesday 12 March from 1830-1930 GMT.  If that interests you follow this link to receive a free 10 page guide on the topic and I’ll let you know how to sign up.Bite-sized Breather, a free 30 minute call with my good friend Lynne Brannigan and I on Wednesday at 10:30 UK time.  If you’d like details follow this link. Support the showThe Simple Reflections Podcast is a collection of gentle conversations with people from all walks of life, looking at small, seemingly insignificant ideas that have gone on to have profound impacts on the lives of the guests. Creating impossible futures with Dr Johannes Metzler

I'd love your feedback, send me a messageYou’re going to love this conversation with Dr Johannes Metzler, an Executive Coach from Berlin!Johannes and I had quite a laugh creating this episode...  While we knew about each other we hadn’t actually met until 5 mins before we hit record.  What followed was everything I thought it would be and more and fits neatly with the idea of “creating impossible futures”.  I knew before we started that we’d have fun and I wasn’t disappointed. In this episode we discuss we play with the notion that 100% of us are being guided by intuition and that the more open to that, the more open we are to play “all out” in life.  By playing for fun, being open and curious about what we can create from moment to moment we have the capacity to step more lightly through some of the challenges we will inevitably bump in to from time to time.I’d love to hear where you’ve found that you’ve managed to create something that looked impossible at the outset?  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/johannesmetzler/Website: https://johannesmetzler.com/Book: From Stress to Success: 10 Mind Shifts for High Performing Leaders [Amazon]At the end of the recording I mentioned a workshop I intend to run at some point in the New Year on the role of clarity of mind in decision making.  If that interests you follow this link to receive a free 10 page guide on the topic and I’ll keep you posted as plans firm up.Support the showThe Simple Reflections Podcast is a collection of gentle conversations with people from all walks of life, looking at small, seemingly insignificant ideas that have gone on to have profound impacts on the lives of the guests. Stay on the path with Ankush Jain

I'd love your feedback, send me a messageI’m excited to introduce you to Ankush Jain today!  Ankush and I first met 6 years ago when we were both speaking in a breakout session at the 3PUK conference in London.  Since that point I’ve been watching Ankush’s career go from strength to strength.  While that in itself has been something to behold, it’s his passion and driver behind that that I’ve become more interested in: his mission to raise the consciousness of the planet by up-levelling the coaching industry!  Ankush is a hugely successful life and business coach/consultant, proud father, published author, podcast host and public speaker. In this episode we discuss the idea of staying on the path and getting to the desired destination.  However, the path is something you are drawn to rather than driven; a knowing rather than a striving.  Ankush quoted a line from Marianne Williamson’s ‘A return to love’;“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.  Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.  It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us…”.I encourage you to get curious and see how you might be keeping your light from the world!I’d love to hear where you’ve felt drawn to something and how that felt different from being driven to achieve something?  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ankushjaincoach/Website: https://www.ankushjain.co.uk/AJC Coaching Career School: https://www.ankushjain.co.uk/my-services/coaching-career-school/Powerful Men’s Immersions: https://www.ankushjain.co.uk/pmi/Book: Sweet Sharing: Rediscovering the REAL You [Amazon]At the end of the recording I mentioned a workSupport the showThe Simple Reflections Podcast is a collection of gentle conversations with people from all walks of life, looking at small, seemingly insignificant ideas that have gone on to have profound impacts on the lives of the guests. Following the breadcrumbs with Nick Bottini

I'd love your feedback, send me a messageI have a treat for you today… Nick Bottini is a coach and author working with high performing members of the music industry.  Nick is a jazz musician himself and obviously brings his musical experience into his coaching… but what’s interesting is the parallel we can all draw in life that fix our views in certain areas.  What I enjoyed most about our conversation is that Nick and I did not know each other before we hit record but we both felt like we’d picked up an old friendship… I am noticing that more and more in my interactions with people and it’s hugely exciting! In this episode we discuss the idea of following the breadcrumbs laid out in front of us with curiosity.  We also play with the idea that seeing things with a clear state of mind and being more relaxed with ideas doesn’t lead to a lack of drive or a lack of dedication, but more that we don’t see “the grind” leading to the outcome!  It’s ore a case of not having thinking about the process and being all in with it at the same time.I’d love to hear where you’ve surprised yourself what you’ve achieved from a relaxed mindset where you would have expected to have felt like you’d working hard to achieve the same results normally?  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nick-bottini-9735747/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nickbottini/Website: https://www.nickbottini.com/Book: Just Play: The simple truth behind musical excellence [Amazon] At the end of the recording I mentioned a workshop I intend to run at some point in the New Year on the role of clarity of mind in decision making.  If that interests you follow this link to receive a free 10 page pdf onSupport the showThe Simple Reflections Podcast is a collection of gentle conversations with people from all walks of life, looking at small, seemingly insignificant ideas that have gone on to have profound impacts on the lives of the guests. The power of giving space with Matt Roberts

I'd love your feedback, send me a messageToday I want to introduce you to Matt Roberts, a coach and former British High Jumper.  I’ve got to know Matt over the last 6-9 months and I just love the way he sees the world and his wish to share what he’s seen with his clients.  Matt mainly works with elite sports people outside of his main employment in events management.  I think you’re going to really enjoy his take on life.In this episode we play with the ideas of being caught up in our heads, our ability to loosen our grip on things, the hidden variable of clarity of mind, as well as the power of giving ourselves and those around us space and see what shows up.I’d love to hear where you’ve surprised yourself with what came to mind when you gave yourself space to slow down?  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/matt-roberts-coach/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/psychological.performance/Website: https://www.psychologicalperformance.com/At the end of the recording I mentioned a workshop I intend to run at some point in the New Year on the role of clarity of mind in decision making.  If that interests you follow this link to receive a free 10 page pdf on the topic and I’ll keep you posted as plans firm up.Support the showThe Simple Reflections Podcast is a collection of gentle conversations with people from all walks of life, looking at small, seemingly insignificant ideas that have gone on to have profound impacts on the lives of the guests. Simplicity in complex environments with Harriet Hancock

I'd love your feedback, send me a messageHarriet Hancock is a senior leader in the justice and immigration sector who has found that coaching from a Three Principles based perspective has enabled her to be a more grounded, capable and supportive leader.  Harriet and I have known each other for a few years now, having crossed paths through One Thought.  We’ve always found it interesting that as leaders with fairly complex and hostile working environments that we’ve both been drawn to look in the same direction to be of greater service. In this episode… which includes an unavoidable technical hitch (sorry)… we discuss the place of simplicity in complex environments.  We also discuss the role curiosity plays for leaders and their teams to be able to tap in to their innate clarity and creativity.Harriet paraphrased two quotes, as like me, she can’t rely on being able to nail them word for word but we both know we can convey the sentiment.  However, I thought I’d share them with you here:"We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking that created them." Albert Einstein"If the only thing people learned was not to be afraid of their experience, that alone would change the world." Sydney BanksHarriet and I are both firm believers in both these statements and relish the opportunity to help people realise them for themselves.I’d love to hear where you’ve been surprised that you have found curiosity, creativity and clarity in your life, despite the complexity of the ongoing situation?  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/harriet-hancock-02992923b/Support the showThe Simple Reflections Podcast is a collection of gentle conversations with people from all walks of life, looking at small, seemingly insignificant ideas that have gone on to have profound impacts on the lives of the guests. There's less to do with Lynne Brannigan

I'd love your feedback, send me a messageLynne Brannigan is a coach based in Spain with over 20 years’ experience, who has relatively recently discovered the Three Principles.  I had the absolute pleasure of being paired up with Lynne during a coaching course we did together last year with Jamie Smart.  During the 9 months and beyond we have had regular, light hearted and fun catch ups and I wanted you to be able to experience some of that.  In this episode our conversation ranges from Lynne’s fear of being a guest on the podcast, to how she’s seeing there’s less to do having gained an understanding of the Principles, through to the wonderful experience of learning for the fun of it rather than from a place of lacking a skill.I’d love to hear what you’re finding you need to do less of having heard this episode, or any of the others?  Website:  https://lynnebrannigan.com/lynne-brannigan-coachingEmail: lynnebrannigan@me.comSupport the showThe Simple Reflections Podcast is a collection of gentle conversations with people from all walks of life, looking at small, seemingly insignificant ideas that have gone on to have profound impacts on the lives of the guests.
