Sit in the silence with Aila Coats

I'd love your feedback, send me a messageHow often have you given yourself permission sit in silence and take stock? In the latest episode of the Simple Reflections Podcast with my guest, Aila Coats, we kept coming back to this idea.Aila is a colleague and teacher of mine from Mississauga the idyllic Tahoe National Forest in California.  Aila is a professional coach who mainly works with teens and coaches looking to grow their businesses.I just love hosting this podcast.  I get to hang out with, and learn from some wonderful people and this episode is no different.  Aila and I discuss learning from the “course” of life: both the path it takes but also paying attention to the opportunity from the curriculum that is always unfolding around us.I’d love what you’ve taken time to explore what is possible for you by exploring the silence?  Website: https://www.ailacoats.com/At the end of the episode I mentioned a programme I'm creating.  Since recording I've created a waiting list for "Exploring the GAP".  If you're interested follow this link to learn a little more: https://simplicity-in-mind.kit.com/gap0925This Episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/hKC6xUeecXESubscribe to the Simple Reflections YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/@SimplicityinMindSupport the showThe Simple Reflections Podcast is a collection of gentle conversations with people from all walks of life, looking at small, seemingly insignificant ideas that have gone on to have profound impacts on the lives of the guests. Moments in time with Greg Fisher

I'd love your feedback, send me a messageHow often have you given yourself permission to notice moments in time? This was something that came up in the latest episode of the Simple Reflections Podcast with my guest, Greg Fisher.Greg is a good friend and colleague from Mississauga in Ontario, Canada.  Hi is a Coach, “Chief Potential Officer” and the author of a couple of books (details in the show notes).During the episode my conversation with Greg ranges from adventures to forgiveness, from parenting to Star Wars and all wrapped up in a gratitude for the times we live in and the opportunities that allows us to create and share with others. What we have both noticed as we’ve looked more deeply into how to serve our clients, is the capacity that lies in every singe moment.  We get to create in every moment.  In fact, that is all we do in every moment… but most of us don’t realise that’s the case.I’d love what you’ve noticed when you’ve been able to explore the moment you are in and what you’ve created from that there?  Website: https://www.coachingplease.comBooks:Lessons from the Force [https://www.coachingplease.com/the-wisdom-of-the-force]Happy Hockey Dads [https://www.coachingplease.com/happy-hockey-dad-book]This Episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/nOoCsPFQxV4 Subscribe to the Simple Reflections YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/@SimplicityinMindSupport the showThe Simple Reflections Podcast is a collection of gentle conversations with people from all walks of life, looking at small, seemingly insignificant ideas that have gone on to have profound impacts on the lives of the guests. Slowing down to the speed of now with ĐƠN GIẢN

I'd love your feedback, send me a messageAs ever, this is an episode where I was learning as I went… something I will be forever grateful for and is a completely unexpected gift from hosting this podcast. In this episode I’m, joined by ĐƠN GIẢN (pronounced Dunzan) an American coach living in Ho Chi Min City in Vietnam.  ĐƠN GIẢN changed his name from Dave Berman a few years ago because of ĐƠN GIẢN’s meaning in Vietnamese: Simple.  Like me ĐƠN GIẢN has a fascination with Simplicity: mine being the “Simple Reflections Podcast” and “Simplicity in Mind”; ĐƠN GIẢN’s not only being the name change but also his “Let it be Simple” community.ĐƠN GIẢN and I met through both being hosts of the “Heartfelt Presence” platform (a free, 24 hour Zoom room. Hosted by coaches with a grounding in the Three Principles).  It was through getting to know ĐƠN GIẢN briefly there that I thought he’d be a great guest for the podcast, and I wasn’t wrong…Our conversation ranged from the power that come from slowing down to the speed of now, to establishing connections through shared understanding and creating experiments, to the infinite world of ideas and possibilities that we are all a part of. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the idea of slowing down in life and seeing what can be created from there?  Website: https://letitbesimple.com/Support the showThe Simple Reflections Podcast is a collection of gentle conversations with people from all walks of life, looking at small, seemingly insignificant ideas that have gone on to have profound impacts on the lives of the guests. The flawless operating system with Chris Dorris

I'd love your feedback, send me a messageI had so much fun with Chris Dorris making this episode!  Chris is a highly sought after coach and speaker working with some seriously big organisations.  He is also a generous and fun loving guy.My coach, Shazia Govindji [episode 32], recommended a book to me a couple of months ago – The Book of Mental Toughness Mantras – and Chris is the author.  I really enjoyed it and wanted to create posts about some of them – my usual mix of rough sketch by me and my thoughts about what it means to me.  Wanting to do the right thing, I got in touch with Chris to ask his permission and I thought I’d also chance my arm and invite him on the podcast. This conversation is the result.  It’s testament to the power that human connection is always available; this was the first time we’d met but it felt like we’d known each other for ever.We touched on a number of topics from Chris’ starting point, to working in elite sports, to his insatiable desire to serve others and continually grow as a human beingI’d love to hear your thoughts on our conversation; on what felt fresh and exciting to you as you listened?  Website: https://christopherdorris.com/Book: The Book of Mental Toughness Mantras [Amazon]Chris also mentioned some resources:YouTube: Michael Singer “Are you wasting your time fighting the universe?”YouTube: Chris’ podcast “Tough Talks” with Steve Chandler Support the showThe Simple Reflections Podcast is a collection of gentle conversations with people from all walks of life, looking at small, seemingly insignificant ideas that have gone on to have profound impacts on the lives of the guests. Creating a learning culture with Alf Pille

I'd love your feedback, send me a messageIn this episode of the Simple Reflections Podcast I’m joined by Alf Pille from Bavaria.  Alf is the CEO of Naturschutzverband LBV, Bavaria’s oldest conservation association. In this episode Alf and I talk about how developing his own understanding of the Three Principles has transformed his life and really shaped the way he leads LBV.  I hope you’ll find Alf’s approach to leading a large team of employees and volunteers interesting, thought provoking and potentially food for thought. As with most of the conversations I have on the podcast we cover a number of varied topics as we explore together… I had no idea at the start of our time together that we’d be covering boxing and membership of choirs as well as leadership.I’d love to hear your thoughts on creating a learning environment, either as a leader or someone within an organisation? Website: https://www.lbv.de/ Support the showThe Simple Reflections Podcast is a collection of gentle conversations with people from all walks of life, looking at small, seemingly insignificant ideas that have gone on to have profound impacts on the lives of the guests. The gold is found in the silence with Sarah Anderson

I'd love your feedback, send me a messageThis episode of the Simple Reflections Podcast is very special to me.  In it I’m joined by Sarah Anderson.  Sarah is part of the RIFLES Regimental family (my old Regiment) and she’s kindly offered to share her family’s experience of navigating Post Traumatic Stress.Sarah is a trained counsellor, a mum of five, a volunteer with the Always a Rifleman Programme (as I am) and the wife of a former Rifleman, now Member of Parliament for South Shropshire, Stuart Anderson. My key take away from our conversation is the power of the love, care and support of family and friends is huge.  If we find ourselves in a supporting role, we don’t need to know the answers, all we need to do is listen without judgement and hold space for the person we are supporting… and don’t be afraid of silence; it’s where the gold tends to show up!As we cover quite a bit of potentially upsetting and difficult territory, I thought I’d share some links to helpful organisations:·       If you’re a member of the RIFLES family – The Always a Rifleman Programme runs an 24 hour emergency phone line staffed by former Riflemen: 0800 470 0941·       Starting points for other military charities:o   The Royal British Legiono   SSAFA·       Civilian help points in the UKo   The Samaritans: 116 123o   Mindo   Shout – a text based service for those who don’t want to speak to someoneI’d love to hear what came to mind as a result of hearing my conversation with Sarah?Take care Support the showThe Simple Reflections Podcast is a collection of gentle conversations with people from all walks of life, looking at small, seemingly insignificant ideas that have gone on to have profound impacts on the lives of the guests.
