A big first day at CREtech NYC as thousands from around the globe made their way to Pier 36 on the Hudson River to talk tech, climate, investment and the big issues facing the industry. In this special podcast, recorded live from the show, EG editor Samantha McClary shares insights from CREtech chief executive Michael Beckerman as he kicks off proceedings and some big thoughts on the market and the importance of diversity from Hines’ Laura Hines-Pierce and BentallGreenOak’s Sonny Kalsi. EG’s Bricks & Mortar returns to the airwaves this week for its Autumn schedule. And what better way to start back than by catching up with the winner of the 2022 Women in Property National Student Award, Tallulah Bannerman, a fourth year architecture student at the University of Edinburgh. The award programme, which invites universities to nominate their top female students studying on a built environment degree course, is now in its 16th year, with over 1,400 students having been through the programme. Bristol’s electorate has spoken: the role of city mayor will be dropped when Marvin Rees finishes his term of office in 2024. It will be replaced by a committee system in which decisions will be ratified by groups of councillors rather than by a cabinet appointed by the mayor.
