how to appreciate the lows in life

"i’ve been seeing my loneliness as an entity i live with, like a roommate. i take my loneliness on dates. we listen to sad music together. we sit together at dinner. i look it in the eyes. we don’t fight." - zoe berger  this truly is a very special conversation and might be one of my favourite guest episodes yet! cara & I were joined by the wonderful zoe who is a writer/graphic designer living in nyc to talk about loneliness, love, mental illness and everything in between. some specific q's we answer are: how to find the beauty in loneliness and stop feeling ashamed? how to deal with heartbreak or breakups? what is it really like to live with BPD and depression? how to know what medication or treatment is right for your mental illness?  recording this episode was so insightful to us because zoe has the most beautiful way of looking at life and the human emotional spectrum! i took sooo much away from this conversation and i'm sure you will too. <3 check zoe's iconicccc style here on her ig, or her wonderful writing on her blog! without further ado... please pour yourself a matcha and enjoy listening! 🍵 Follow us on instagram (@the.matcha.diaries) to stay up to date on our lives, contribute to future episodes, and share any of your thoughts! clubbing: are we really having fun?

when we sat down to record this episode... I (cara) had no idea what we were going to talk about....Leo had a few things on her mind that she really wanted to unload and so.... join us for a truly authentic chit chatty style episode, where leo shares a recent 'going out' experience. leo discusses how the experience made her feel, and the questions that arose regarding clubbing, going out culture, fomo & the pressure to say yes even when you don't want to! We discuss why we think the enjoyment behind clubbing can change as you get older, how sometimes we only go clubbing because of the fear of missing out on the memorable experiences with friends, how sometimes we may not feel 'extroverted' enough to be comfortable in those situations, and most importantly why saying no to going out can feel so difficult. so... please pour yourself a matcha and enjoy listening! 🍵 Follow us on instagram (@the.matcha.diaries) to stay up to date on our lives, contribute to future episodes, and share any of your thoughts! how i've failed myself

this was a difficult one … inspired by Elizabeth Day’s podcast “how to fail”, this is part 2 (part1: leo, part 2: cara) of our episode series were we asked ourselves the tough question “what are your biggest failures” ? A question that might seem simple to the eye… but it pushes someone to think about their past, their experiences, things they regret.. but most importantly the lessons that they have learnt, and how those failures are vital to their current successes.  the two failures we discuss in part 2 are:  saying no to a lot of things growing up (because I cared a lot of what people thought of me) + ultimately missing out on a lot of experiences closing my self off in relationships + friendships a note from cara: recording this episode in itself taught me that it is okay to take space, and made me realise the importance of believing in your worth and the value you bring to those around you. If you ever don't feel like you're good enough, that your voice and story isn't worth sharing, then I want you to know that you're not alone BUT we have to start believing in the reasons we are put on this earth and all the greatness that comes with our presence.   p.s if you want to join our book club and come meet us in person... you can join us here! logo credit: french75studios
