what comes after the honeymoon phase?
the honeymoon phase is over... now what?
In this weeks episode, Ed (AKA Cara's boyfriend) and I sit down with each other and answer your questions on surviving a long term relationship in your twenties. We share the story of how we met, how we support each other as a couple, our love languages, our greatest struggles and most importantly we dive into what intimacy & maintaining a spark in your relationship actually looks post the honeymoon phase.
Here's a sneak peek into the questions we answered:
- Is it difficult learning to love a new version of them again after they change with time?
- What to do about that feeling that you didn't get to try everything but you've found 'the one' now?
- Is it normal to have periods of doubts / not know if this is the person you want to spend your life with?
- Have you ever asked yourself if there is maybe somebody better for you?
- How to maintain the magic and spark?
DM us on @the.matcha.diaries as we'd love to hear your views on maintaining a healthy long term relationship. Please pour yourself a matcha and enjoy listening!
p.s please excuse my voice in this as I am still recovering for a cold <3

do our failures define us?
we dug DEEP in this episode … inspired by Elizabeth Day’s podcast “how to fail”, this is part 1 (part1: leo, part 2: cara) of our episode series were we asked ourselves the tough question “what are your biggest failures” ?
A question that might seem simple to the eye… but it pushes someone to think about their past, their experiences, things they regret.. but most importantly the lessons that they have learnt, and how those failures are vital to their current successes.
the two failures we discuss in part 1 are:
1. seeking validation to the expense of other people
2. not treating my body and mind as they deserve
a note from leo: this was by far the most difficult episode to record and upload, but i’m also proud of our community that i feel safe enough to be this vulnerable on here. my hope is that even one of you listening will be able to relate and feel slightly less alone, because i know that would have helped me a lot when i was going through these. sending lots of love.

the importance of finding beauty in the little moments
How are you... really?
A week ago we did a little check in and asked how you are all feeling. Unfortunately a big chunk of the responses we got back had to do with not feeling too well, lacking motivation, being exhausted, overwhelmed, drained, and feeling sad.
In this episode we wanted to sit down and respond to you guys. We discuss the importance of finding beauty and happiness in the little things, and share the things we actively do to make our days better. Leo discusses how the practice of 'romanticising your life' has always been a big part of how she lives and through doing so, I ( Cara ) learnt a lot from this episode.. especially when it comes to the power of the mind and our perspective on our day to day lives. We share simple ways to make the typical 'mundane' day.. a lot more beautiful.
Just know that if you ever need a shoulder to cry on or someone to talk to we're here! Please don't hesitate to DM us on @the.matcha.diaries.
Please pour yourself a matcha and enjoy listening! 🍵 Also, if you want to join our book club and come meet us in person... you can join us here!
p.s the first 15 minutes is a bit of a chaotic catch up so feel free to skip to get to the juice of the episode!

is your subconscious lying to you?
Have you ever had a dream that left you feeling weird the next day but you couldn't quite put your finger on the reason why? Well, I (leo here) had one of those recently - which got us talking & thinking about the meaning behind our dreams and how the subconscious can sometimes harbour long forgotten or deeply buried feelings... So we decided to do some research into the topic... and boy are we glad we did!
In this episode we share our findings about the subconscious (obviously with the caveat that we're no scientists, we're merely curious matcha girlies wanting to share our newly acquired wisdom with all of you!), and cover the following:
What is the difference between our conscious and subconscious mind?
Which areas of our life does the subconscious impact?
How does the subconscious communicate with us?
How does trauma or negative past experiences impact our subconscious?
How can we tap into our subconscious to create the life we want?
So... please pour yourself a matcha and enjoy listening! 🍵 Follow us on instagram (@the.matcha.diaries) to stay up to date on our lives, contribute to future episodes, and share any of your thoughts! Also, if you want to join our book club... you can join us here!.
P.S. cara is still in jordan recording from her phone so please excuse the audio quality!!!! :'(

should we stop striving to be our best selves?
First off - we want to say we're SO sorry about the audio quality, Cara had to record on her phone because she’s at home in Jordan (😍), but we still wanted to upload the episode because we loved recording it... So we hope you still enjoy listening!!
In this episode we do something we’ve not done in this way before! We react to an article which seems to contradict the whole principle of our podcast?? We’ll link the article here, so you can have a read along with us.
We discuss the topics of:
Are the principles of self improvement and self care toxic?
Who REALLY is benefiting from Gen z continuously striving towards bettering themselves?
Does one have to drink alcohol to live your twenties well?
What is better - blissful ignorance or being being all too conscious of all the bad in the world?
We ended up having a lot of open ended conversations and would looooveee to hear your guys thoughts on the themes we talked about!!
So... please pour yourself a matcha and enjoy listening! 🍵 Follow us on instagram (@the.matcha.diaries) to stay up to date on our lives, contribute to future episodes, and share any of your thoughts!

your reminder to be confident & know your self worth
This episode is definitely a listen for when you're on your hot girl walk! We felt so empowered after recording this episode and felt ready to care a little less about what others think and trust who we are a lot more xx
In this episode, we address...
Where we're at with confidence at the moment
How confidence makes every aspect of your life better - friendships, appearances, not being afraid to be your true self
The spotlight effect where people tend to overestimate how much others notice aspects of one's appearance or behaviour
Affirmations, self worth, and internal trust and how that leads to confidence
How being in the moment and living in the moment can give you confidence
Our negative bias and why we need to stop listening to it
How pushing yourself out of your comfort zone is key to confidence building
Everyone says fake it till you make it.. but how do we do it??
When do YOU feel most confident?
So... please pour yourself a matcha and enjoy listening! 🍵 Follow us on instagram (@the.matcha.diaries) to stay up to date on our lives, contribute to future episodes, and share any of your thoughts
