If teachers took over the government with Sharon McMahon

If you were online during the historic 2020 election cycle, you may have seen Sharon McMahon’s viral videos. A former high school educator now known as “America’s Government Teacher,” Sharon fights polarization with nonpartisan facts. Sharon and Adam discuss how we can rethink the qualifications for elected office, who decides to run, and what information voters should weigh. Episode 18- What is Community-Based Participatory Action Research? with Adam and Joe

Sometimes, it’s just important to define ideas. In this episode, Adam, and Joe talk about some of the key definitions, principles, and differences between Community Based Participatory Action Research (CBPAR) and other types of Action Research. The conversation opens with a “mini-lecture” from Joe where he talks about action research, participatory action research and CBPAR (1:55). Talking about these concepts theoretically shows some interesting and important differences between these different kinds of action research. However, when Adam and Joe start talking about the practicality of these paradigms they uncover the messiness that action researchers face. The conversation gets deeper as Adam and Joe discuss their experiences in the field and how to overcome the complexity of Action Research in action (and CBPAR in particular) (14:52). The conversation wraps up with some hard-hitting questions such as, what makes for quality action research or participatory action research or community-based participatory action research? (44:56). Who is that knowledge being disseminated to and why? (49:32). These are just the highlights, tune-in to know more!SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: If you are interested in Action Research, be sure to sign up for the 2021 Action Research Network of the Americas (ARNA) Annual Conference to be held (Virtually) on the 3, 10 and 17 of June. The Anarchism and Philosophy of Max Stirner with Acid Horizon

Here, Will and Adam from Acid Horizon engage in a discussion on a simultaneously well known and largely overlooked enigmatic figure in the history of German philosophy, idealism and its discontents, and even insurrectionary anarchism, Max Stirner. The discussion provides both an in-depth look at Stirner’s core philosophical commitments and the intellectual milieu within which and against which he toiled. What is at stake in Stirner’s The Unique and its Property? How are we to understand Stirner’s heterodoxical approach to anarchy? And, what can Stirner provide to us as we confront those apparatuses that seem to render us docile everyday?Relevant linksBlog posts: https://happyhourathippels.wordpress.com/2022/11/10/theory-of-der-einzige-stirner-bataille-and-anarchic-abnormality/https://happyhourathippels.wordpress.com/2023/03/12/max-stirner-and-philosophy/Stirner Symposium:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLmHdkxcTRHnEso3arl2eGtRKI8scuWKpHhttps://twitter.com/UnionOfStirnersFrom Zer0 Books, 'All Things Are Nothing to Me: The Unique Philosophy of Max Stirner by Jacob Blumenfeld:https://www.johnhuntpublishing.com/zero-books/our-books/all-things-are-nothing-to-meSupport the podcast:Linktree: https://linktr.ee/acidhorizonAcid Horizon on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acidhorizonpodcastZer0 Books and Repeater Media Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/zer0repeaterMerch: http://www.crit-drip.comOrder 'The Philosopher's Tarot': https://repeaterbooks.com/product/the-philosophers-tarot/Subscribe to us on Apple Podcasts: https://tinyurl.com/169wvvhiHappy Hour at Hippel's (Adam’s blog): https://happyhourathippels.wordpress.comRevolting Bodies (Will's Blog): https://revoltingbodies.comSplit Infinities (Craig’s Substack): https://splitinfinities.substack.com/Music: https://sereptie.bandcamp.com/ and https://thecominginsurrection.bandcamp.com/Support the showSupport the podcast:https://www.acidhorizonpodcast.com/Linktree: https://linktr.ee/acidhorizonAcid Horizon on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/acidhorizonpodcastJoin The Schizoanalysis Project: https://discord.gg/4WtaXG3QxnSubscribe to us on your favorite podcast: https://pod.link/1512615438Merch: http://www.crit-drip.comSubscribe to us on your favorite podcast: https://pod.link/1512615438 LEPHT HAND: https://www.patreon.com/LEPHTHANDHappy Hour at Hippel's (Adam’s blog): https://happyhourathippels.wordpress.comRevolting Bodies (Will's Blog): https://revoltingbodies.comSplit Infinities (Craig’s Substack): https://splitinfinities.substack.com/Music: https://sereptie.bandcamp.com/ and https://thecominginsurrection.bandcamp.com/
