Therapy Chat 376: Beyond Protocol: The Art + Science Of EMDR With Rotem Brayer
Mar 31, 2023
41:21
Therapeutic Relationship First
- Therapeutic relationship is the number one predictor of positive outcomes across modalities.
- Rotem Brayer argues EMDR must foreground relational work, not just protocols.
Customize Resourcing Techniques
- Tailor resourcing to each client instead of rigidly using the container exercise.
- Teach clients concrete regulation tools that fit their imagery and practice them outside session.
EMDR Requires Right‑Brain Presence
- EMDR involves an 'art'—right-brain relational attunement—not only technical protocols.
- Authentic therapist presence supports right-brain healing between therapist and client.
