In this episode, we review the main causes of four different types of shock: hypovolemic, cardiac, obstructive and distributive (or vasoplegic). We discuss both initial assessment and management of a patient in shock, as well as more focused therapies for specific etiologies. Our medicine minute discusses the choice for initial vasopressors as well as the evidence behind current MAP targets.
