Putting yourself in the vulnerable position in the arena leads to high upside opportunities and growth. It means taking risks and not sitting on the sidelines throwing rocks at others. By being in the arena, you expose yourself to criticism, but it also presents the opportunity for real wins and personal growth.
When faced with a decision between two paths, choose the one that is harder in the short term. Uphill decisions often lead to better outcomes in the long run. However, it is important to also consider the possibility of an easier way to achieve the same result and not overlook it.
Certain opportunities in life only come around once or very rarely. When you encounter such a rare opportunity, seize it without hesitation. These unique moments can potentially lead to exceptional experiences, growth, and success. Recognize when you have a chance that is truly one of a kind.
When faced with a difficult decision, imagine yourself in the future looking back. Ask whether you would regret not taking the opportunity or not making a specific choice. Considering your future and reflecting on potential regrets can provide valuable insight and guide you in making the right decision.
When faced with big decisions, it is often better to make them quickly rather than overthinking. Spending too much time analyzing pros and cons can waste time, while trusting your instincts can lead to better outcomes. Emotional decisions should also be considered as they may be easier and more aligned with your true desires. Taking a pause, stepping away from research, and reflecting on the right decision can lead to clarity and better decision-making.
To increase the chances of lucky opportunities and growth, it is important to expand your luck surface area. By engaging with people, meeting new individuals, and putting your work out into the world, you create more opportunities for serendipity to occur. It is also beneficial to put yourself in uncomfortable situations where you may be the least knowledgeable person in the room. These situations can lead to interesting conversations, growth, and valuable connections.
