In this book, Tim S. Grover reveals what it takes to achieve total mental and physical dominance. He breaks down the essential traits shared by the most intense competitors and achievers in sports, business, and all walks of life, known as 'The Relentless 13.' Grover shows how to trust your instincts, get in the Zone, control and adapt to any situation, and find your opponent’s weakness and attack. The book is packed with previously untold stories and unparalleled insight into the psyches of the most successful athletes of our time, demonstrating how even the best can get better.
In 'How Children Succeed', Paul Tough challenges the conventional wisdom that success is primarily determined by cognitive abilities. Drawing on research in neuroscience, economics, and psychology, Tough argues that non-cognitive skills such as grit, curiosity, conscientiousness, and optimism are crucial for a child's success. The book introduces readers to new research and personal stories of children overcoming adversity, highlighting the importance of early childhood and adolescent interventions in developing these character strengths. Tough also discusses the role of parents, schools, and mentors in teaching and reinforcing these skills, and how programs like OneGoal are making a significant impact on the lives of underprivileged students.
This book is a vivid and fresh translation of Marcus Aurelius’s 'Meditations', an essential work on Stoic philosophy. Written by the Roman emperor who remained untainted by wealth and power, it provides guidance on how to live a good life amidst adversity, find happiness and peace in turbulent times, and make ethical choices without self-interest. The book is praised for its relevance today as it was in the second century and is recommended for anyone who has faced adversity or holds positions of authority[1][2][3].
Jason Mayden, co-founder of Super Heroic, was the lead designer for the Air Jordan, the highest grossing Nike shoe in history. In his relentless pursuit to be the greatest sneaker designer, he did 1,000 sketches a day and became the first African American to land a design internship with Nike. And in just five years, he familiarized himself with other disciplines to earn his role as Senior Designer — a feat that normally takes around 15 years to achieve— and ultimately designed the Nike shoe of his hometown hero, Michael Jordan. Jason went on to obtain his Master’s degree from Stanford and worked his way all the way to Senior Global Design Director for the Jordan brand.
