(8:30) The contestants weren’t paid very well, and the trainers were questionable. The episodes were grueling to watch because of the treatment of the contestants. (16:00) They discuss some of the tactics the show used to get contestants. Contracts were complicated and presented in a manner that rushed contestants into signing. (18:00) They’d sign away their image rights, and the production company would own it. Vinnie shares his experience with the show’s doctor (in a separate incident). After having Vinnie go through multiple tests, the show’s doctor couldn’t give Vinnie an answer as to what was wrong with him. Two days later, Vinnie found out he had cancer (from a different doctor). (22:00) Anna felt that the Fit for TV documentary didn’t hammer down on the point hard enough about how dangerous and exploitive the show was. (29:00) Caffeine pills—are they harmful? (31:30). They discuss some of the contestants and their struggles, including one woman who had to be airlifted to the hospital.
