Bridgett Blood talks with Blake Roberts all about the importance of understanding your story.
Blake is a therapist who owns a private practice in the Nashville area where he helps clients overcome anxiety, be more present, and foster healthy relationships. He became a therapist by way of engaging the depths of his own story through counseling and recovery. Blake is also a photographer, entrepreneur, and writer. More importantly, he’s a husband and a new dad.
In this episode we discuss:
- Coming alive and connecting to your story
- Having self-compassion toward the parts of us we hate
- Emotional enmeshment with a parent
- How to know if we are reacting to something that is happening in the present or our past?
- How becoming a parent can surface pain you experienced with your own mom or dad.
- We all carry mixed motives (and that’s okay)
