New York City Transit Authority Graphics Standards Manual
Book • 2014
Originally created in 1967-1970 by Massimo Vignelli and Bob Noorda of Unimark International, this graphics standards manual transformed the chaotic NYC subway system by establishing comprehensive design standards for signs and wayfinding.
The manual became one of the world's classic examples of modern design and is housed in MoMA's collection.
Standards Manual published a reissue in 2014 following a successful Kickstarter campaign, featuring high-resolution scans from Vignelli's personal library, a foreword by Michael Bierut, and an essay by Christopher Bonanos of New York magazine.
