Research shows that second and third movers are significantly less likely to fail than first movers. Creating a market from scratch requires a huge amount of effort and specific investments that are hard to change. It can be more beneficial to watch someone else create a market and then improve upon their solution. Original thinkers tend to have more bad ideas than their peers because they generate more ideas. The key to idea selection is to generate a large quantity of ideas, as this increases the chances of discovering truly great ones. It is essential to navigate through dead ends and false starts in order to achieve something worthwhile.
