Taking a mindful pause when feeling reactive or triggered can prevent negative consequences. This pause allows us to step back and gain perspective, preventing us from snapping at others or judging ourselves. It only takes a few breaths or minutes but helps us reason and make better decisions. Reacting without reasoning stems from our animalistic and instinctive nature, but pausing creates space for reason to come in and helps us put things in proper perspective.
