Teaching and learning should be fun and engaging, but simply giving kids exciting tasks without providing the necessary resources or skills can lead to frustration and unproductive struggle. Just like the speaker's colleague who couldn't understand a manual written in Chinese, expecting a child who can't read to excel in reading will only lead to frustration. Research shows that many kids with behavior problems in schools also struggle with reading. Therefore, it's important to provide the appropriate support and resources to ensure that learning is truly engaging and beneficial for all kids.
