Insulin levels increase when you consume glucose. Insulin directs the body to store glucose as energy. However, if you exercise at the wrong time, your blood glucose levels may drop, causing reactive hyperglycemia. This can be a problem for some people, including the speaker who once had to chase his friends to Cork Bay after starting his ride late due to going to the wrong meeting point.
