i always want everything to just work better, whether it's my house too a mass of business, i just like systems. I like making things work better. And so if you have that desire, then it's hard to just be satisfied with your day to day life. So james dyson's the guy who started the dyson company. They make fans and hair dryers and vacuums and all sorts of stuff. He has this great quote. He says, i'm perpetually 20 % dissatisfied with everything. But he is 75 or something, and he still feels that way. It was very interesting hearing him talk about his dissatisfaction as an adult.
My guest is businessman and investor Andrew Wilkinson, who has made a successful career out of channeling his entrepreneurial spirit, but he knows that sometimes that energy can be a double-edged sword.
We discuss the lessons learned acquiring 40 companies, why he struggled to find happiness and what changed, mimetic desire, competing with venture-backed companies, hiring and firing CEOs, getting back up after million dollar mistakes, and so much more.
