NOTE

Exploring Covert Contracts and Resentment in 'Nice Guys'

Covert contracts are unspoken and unconscious agreements that nice guys have with the world, based on manipulative if-then scenarios, such as expecting to be liked and loved if they are good, or believing that meeting everyone's needs will prompt others to meet their needs automatically. These nice guys are often terrible receivers, assuming that if they do everything right, they will have a smooth, problem-free life. The core characteristic of a nice guy is often resentment, stemming from unmet covert contract expectations. Unspoken expectations are described as premeditated resentment.
