NOTE

The Neuroscience of Grief and Love

When someone is grieving, it's important to give them space to express their emotions without trying to fix things. It's normal to feel discomfort during the grieving process. Nora explains that even though a person may be physically gone, their memory and impact remain. Neuroscience research shows that loving relationships actually change our brain structure. So, while a loved one's death may require our brains to rewire, they leave a permanent mark. Love, more than grief, has the power to transform us. Thank you for listening to today's episode, produced by Transmitter Media with help from Mitchell Johnson and fact-checked by Vanessa Garcia Woodworth. Special thanks to Grace Rubenstein, Anna Phalen, Sammy Case, Maria Lages, and Colin Helms. I'm Dr. Shoshana Ungerleiter.
