The Imperfects

NOTE

Embrace Emotion to Break the Cycle of Control

Controlling behavior often stems from repressed emotions, particularly among men, where societal norms discourage vulnerability and emotional expression. These unprocessed feelings can build up and lead to aggressive reactions when one feels threatened or powerless. It's crucial to teach children healthy emotional expression from a young age, enabling them to manage their feelings constructively. Accepting emotional outbursts, termed 'beautiful meltdowns,' can ultimately restore balance and promote emotional health. Adults must model appropriate emotional behavior, as children cannot express what they have not been shown is acceptable.
