The Fear of Judgement
Avoiding social situations may temporarily relieve anxiety, but it is not sustainable or healthy. Deep social connections are important for our mood and well-being. Avoidance only increases future fear and prevents us from challenging negative thoughts. We need vulnerability and meaningful relationships, despite the judgments of others. Remember, people are not thinking about us as much as we think they are. We are innately egocentric.
