Need for Chaos in Society
A study conducted by a Danish political scientist revealed that a small subset of Americans, comprising about 10% of the population, have a strong inclination to share conspiracy theories on social media regardless of their political affiliation. These individuals, termed as having a 'need for chaos,' exhibit a pattern of sharing fake news about both Republicans and Democrats equally. The study highlighted that the vast majority of people, around 90%, do not engage in spreading conspiracy theories but instead recognize them for what they are. Ultimately, the research indicates that a minority of individuals in society seem to thrive on chaos and turmoil, indifferent to the political party associated with the conspiracy theory.
