Buddhism: A Collection of Religions
Buddhism should be viewed as a collection of religions rather than different traditions because the differences between Theravadin and Zen are more significant than those between Islam and Judaism or Islam and Christianity. A religion is defined as a centuries-long conversation about a certain question. Translators often use Buddhist hybrid English (Bundlish) in translating Buddhist texts, leading to various dialects like Zen Bundlish, Tibetan Bundlish, and Theravadan Bundlish.
