Continuous participation in conditioning exercise can help improve cardiopulmonary fitness, leading to a reduced risk of mortality, cardiovascular disease, and type two diabetes. Initially, a threshold of eight Mets was considered adequate for cardiorespiratory fitness, but increasing VO2 max and higher energy expenditure levels during conditioning exercises have shown even lower risks.
