NOTE

When Zuckerberg Met Snapchat Founder Evan And Launched a Snapchat Clone

In December of 2012, video was added as a big pillar of Snapchat. Mark Zuckerberg, after hearing about Snapchat, contacted Evan Spiegel via email. Facebook had been secretly working on an app called Polk, which was a clone of Snapchat. Zuckerberg eventually met with Spiegel and presented his grandiose vision for Snapchat. He mentioned that Facebook would be launching Polk the following week. This move by Facebook brought a lot of attention and buzz to Snapchat. This kind of situation is not uncommon as it has happened with other apps in the past. The lesson here is to not be afraid when a big company launches a similar feature, as it can actually bring more attention to your platform.
