Optimizing Performance Testing in an Ideal Environment

To optimize performance testing, it is recommended to do it in a sterile environment with controlled environmental conditions such as a flat, non-windy outdoors or a gym. For a bike test, set a timer for 20 minutes and aim to see how far you can go. Start with a moderate intensity at RP seven for the first five minutes, then assess if you can push harder or maintain the pace for the next five minutes. Repeat this pattern for the full 20 minutes, monitoring average heart rate and distance covered. Improvement in cardi respiratory fitness is indicated by increased distance covered with the same or lower heart rate compared to previous tests.
