Veblen's Legacy and Influence on Policy Making

The New Deal was heavily influenced by Thorsten Veblen and his followers, who played an active role in its construction. Their involvement solidified Veblen's importance in the policy arena, but also led to institutionalists being marginalized in academia. However, institutionalism has survived and continues to influence policy making, with many of Veblen's followers working in government agencies to formulate pragmatic, problem-solving policies. This legacy is viewed as positive, with the New Deal being seen as one of the most successful policy programs in the history of the United States.
