Social Revolution - The Seizing of Political Power
Marks drafted the principles of the international, emphasizing that the working classes must emancipate themselves and not rely on other classes. Economic emancipation is crucial, but political power is also important. The first international aimed to attract as many members as possible, without a strict doctrinal test. The general council in London served as a coordinating and correspondence bureau, not an authoritarian executive. Joining only required acknowledging justice and morality as the basis of conduct towards others, regardless of color, creed, or nationality.
