Having a personal mission statement or directional document, like a patriarchal blessing or a few chosen pieces of poetry, can provide a sense of peace and focus. It helps in avoiding distraction and chasing shiny objects. The act of having such a directional document influences one's state and behavior beyond just checking it weekly.
