The Evolution of Music Creation: From Mozart to Avicii

The evolution of music creation has seen a shift from relying on musical genius to utilizing software and technology. In the past, composers like Mozart had to rely on their ability to hear every single tone and orchestral instrument in their head in order to create music. They could only hear their compositions played by a live orchestra a few days before a concert, making the creation process arduous and precise. Jazz musicians also required exceptional technical proficiency on their instruments. However, with the advent of technology, artists like Avicii were able to create brilliant music without knowing how to play any instruments. Instead, they relied on software proficiency and had a deep understanding of knobs, plug-ins, and other technical aspects. This shift towards a more technical and detailed workflow has changed the way music is created and highlights the fact that technical musical proficiency may not necessarily be correlated with making great music.
