The Importance of Treating Patients as Unique Individuals

Treating a person with anxiety or depression involves looking at their family history to identify reasons for their problems. However, it's better to treat them as a unique individual and use potential tools to figure out what's up with them. This is called applied existentialism, which considers that rationality cannot operate unless it's embodied. Emotions are low resolution, quick solutions to problems that can't be computed, which is why they are necessary for decision-making.
