How Buddhism Could Change Your Life (The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying)

Nat's Notes

NOTE

Part of us craves distraction through busy work

Our tendency to fill our days with busy work and distractions stems from a deep discomfort with impermanence and change. We often engage in compulsive activities to avoid facing difficult questions about life and meaning, ultimately seeking external validation. However, the key to a balanced and fulfilling life lies in simplicity. By simplifying our lives and focusing on what truly matters, we can develop comfort with ourselves and learn to embrace impermanence and change rather than trying to control them. It is crucial to strike a balance between work and introspection in the modern world, avoiding getting entangled in a nine-to-five existence that blinds us to the deeper meaning of life. Embracing the truth of impermanence and letting go of the need for things to remain constant is essential for finding peace and harmony in our lives.
