Vitamin D and Sun Exposure

Supplement trials have shown that artificially raising levels of Vitamin D in the blood through supplements did not have the same beneficial effects as natural sunlight exposure. High levels of Vitamin D in the blood from sunlight exposure are correlated with lower rates of diseases, indicating that it is the sun exposure itself that may have health benefits, not the Vitamin D. Therefore, the health effects previously attributed to Vitamin D may be due to other pathways activated by sunlight.
