Female happiness has steadily declined since the 1970s, aligning with male happiness levels. Income and race also play significant roles in well-being, with wealthier individuals generally happier and white Americans historically reporting higher levels of happiness than black Americans. However, since 1970, happiness has increased among black Americans while slightly declining among whites. The most significant finding is that marriage appears to be the most influential factor for happiness in America.
