The Technical Notion of the Self

The self is described as a technical notion, representing an agent's interest in the universe maintained by the mind. It is viewed as a puppet maintained by the mind, perceiving itself as the main character in a story. However, there is also an intelligence coexisting within the mind, generating emotions, word models, and perception. The pain and pleasure of experience are generated by intelligent parts of the mind outside of the personal self. Ultimately, there is a transcendent distinction where the mind realizes that it has created this model of reality and the organism's interest in it, representing the self-identification of the mind rather than a human personal self.
