People make decisions based on how they are wired, either through emotions or logic. Understanding how someone makes decisions is crucial in getting them to see your point. If someone makes decisions based on emotions, using a logical argument will not be effective. Similarly, if someone is driven by data and logic, an emotional argument will be futile. It is important to meet people where they are and break down the barriers that prevent effective communication. In an interview or conversation, if someone has their walls up, it is impossible to impart information to them. The mission is to bring those walls down in order to engage in meaningful dialogue.
