Copper: The Key to Iron Balance

Copper is essential for the proper function of the enzymes pefestin and ceruloplasm, which play critical roles in iron absorption and transport. Without sufficient copper, iron cannot be absorbed in the intestines or effectively transported in the blood, leading to the accumulation of iron in organs such as the liver, retina, and brain.
