Blaming Men and Male Vulnerability
The assumption that any attention paid towards men takes away from women or other deserving minority groups is a flawed zero-sum view of empathy. Empathy is not a limited resource, and recognizing the plights of men does not ignore those of women. However, neglecting men's issues leads to a growing group of resentful and disengaged men, which ultimately contributes to the lack of eligible partners that women complain about. Instead of blaming men, we should focus on finding solutions for their challenges, just as we do for other groups. Society should ask what can be done to fix the problems men face, rather than expecting men to fix themselves.
